Forums - Nintendo - Starfox, a reimagining of Starfox 64, coming exclusively to Switch 2 June 25th

Nate was right once again.

I kinda wish they had remade Star Fox 1 and Star Fox 2 (SNES) with these modern graphics too, 64 is my favorite SF game but I've played it quite a bit. Will still be buying day 1. The online stuff looks neat.

I think we are officially into a new Nintendo era too ... this is the Movie/Hollywood era. Release windows, marketing, and chosen products orbit around big movie releases now it seems like. They timed this unveil after the Galaxy movie's Golden Week in Japan, it shows you everything is timed now to go along with the movies.

Remember the first Mario movie they had no idea it would be such a huge hit. Now they know, and it looks like a lot of their software side is going to revolve around the movies.

Even with this release too you can see they're making a bigger emphasis on the cinematic cutscenes to boot (which is kind of a funny new direction for Nintendo relative to the N64 era) probably to attract kids who are watching the movies. And that'll probably continue in 2027 we have a Zelda movie and in 2028 it sounds like we have a Donkey Kong movie coming.

I loathe the art design of the characters with a passion. The whole "realistic puppet" thing repels me

Im still curious how this pans out, cause i absolutely love SF64, but first impression wasnt good.

Fu nilt enough their key renders on the box art and other ones make them look better than their in-game models.

Anywho, I expect it to be the same phenomenon than what happened with DK and it's re-design really.

Not too attached to most of the OG designs(and their polygons really ...) Seems like most were familiar only with the Smash Bros incarnations.

In my case .... I actually never liked their designs in the Game Cube era. Never felt right in those cases.
Zero got it closer to what I expect from the Smash designs.

Pretty glad they decided to swing for another redesign here again. It's grown rapidly on me.

I believe this game exists much like Wind Waker HD did and Prime Remaster. It is so aid development for a bigger project in mind with the IP. It helps the dev team get familiar with toolsets/engines/API/hardware and such. So I doubt this is the last Starfox game we see on Switch 2.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Yeah I also feel like this is a way of Nintendo testing the waters to see if there's an audience for a new Starfox, without risking the larger budget that a completely new game would require.

I agree with Leynos, if this sells well I expect an all new entry will follow.

Now we need a new F-Zero

See some gamers complain about it being a remake of the N64 game for the 4th time or whatever. Yeah, well not many of you seem to like anything that came after. Never seen so much negativity for a franchise. Its like Nintendo could never do anything right after the N64 one. People were always "This isnt like the N64 game at all". Well this is exactly like the N64 version. So sure, dont buy it and let the franchise rest for another 10-20 years.

I like the scruffy looking characters and the graphics overall are beautiful. Cant wait!

Never cared much for Star Fox. but this one I might pick up due to that local coop pilot+gunner setup.

I used to play a lot of spaceship games in the nineties, but they've disappeared from major developers, with the exception of Ace Combat. What will the sales potential be?

I'm fine with the character designs, bit disappointed it's a remake of the N64 game though. I was expecting it to be a brand new title that took the series gameplay forwards.
