Forums - Indie - Favorite Indie Game?

Little bit generic of a thread idea, I know, but having just been reminded a moment ago how Celeste is (if not one of, then THE) greatest 2D platformer ever created, I’m curious: What is your favorite indie game?

My answer would probably go to Celeste. It was actually the first indie I ever played. I saw IGN gave the game a 10 and decided that was high enough praise for me— I was a little tired of SMOdyssey and BotW by that point, so I had been searching for something new.

Around the Network

It’s getting tough to nail down exactly what qualifies as an indie these days. The definition seems to be fluid :P

My pick is Chained Echoes, even if it had a publisher in the end. It was developed by one person with funds raised from a Kickstarter campaign, so I think it qualifies, despite Deck13 handling publishing duties.

I’ve written at length about the game before, so I’ll just say that had it arrived on SNES in 1995, we would be talking about it in the same breath as FFVI and Chrono Trigger. It’s that good.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

A raw and devastatingly powerful tale of loss, recovery, and the struggles of battling your own mind, brought to life with hard-hitting combat and a rich, atmospheric world.

A masterpiece.

There are quite a few that could qualify for me: Per Aspera, Growing up, Judgement, Rimworld, Oxygen not included, Songs of Syx...

But my favorite is probably I was a Teenage Exocolonist. It's basically a raising sim, but with some extra additions like managing your friendships (and their survival). Plus, on subsequent playthroughs, your character remembers previous ones, and will be able to take additional actions and dialogue options, including saving some that are impossible to save beforehand. Also, glow season is legitimately freakish.
