It’s getting tough to nail down exactly what qualifies as an indie these days. The definition seems to be fluid :P
My pick is Chained Echoes, even if it had a publisher in the end. It was developed by one person with funds raised from a Kickstarter campaign, so I think it qualifies, despite Deck13 handling publishing duties.
I’ve written at length about the game before, so I’ll just say that had it arrived on SNES in 1995, we would be talking about it in the same breath as FFVI and Chrono Trigger. It’s that good.
