If you are right that it is just to prevent a loophole in regards to their refund policies and the licence revert to permanent, then yes, then it is not a big deal, but until we get any real confirmation, I am holding back from buying digital games for PS5.
An alternative explanation is that Sony are just testing the waters to see what they can get away with. I am sure Sony is happy to see so many consumers are perfectly fine with Sony implementing new restrictions on their digital products, as long as it doesn't affect their gaming experience directly, right now. Maybe Sony should just go ahead and implement always-online DRM across the board. 99 % anyway always have their PlayStations connected to the internet, so they won't feel the difference. The fact that Sony just takes more control over their users' digital libraries doesn't seem to bother some people much.
