Alinea Analytics is definitely not reliable. Dring believes the PS5 and PC numbers for RE are way closer to with even PS5 maybe even edging it out from what he's heard.

From that 5M+ figure, my guess would be that both PS5 and PC are both around 2M each, 2.15M for PS5 and PC 2M, with NS2 having around 0.4M, so 18.5% of PS5 sales, and XBS also having around that with 0.45M.

I think it's a very close battle between both PS5 and PC and also between NS2 and XBS.

PS5 - 2.15M, PC - 2M, XBS - 0.45M, NS2 - 0.4M.

Alinea Analytics's estimates here are rubbish even by their (low) standards. Here's a much better split guesstimate from our very own lord @Otter:

I'd take a 100-200k from PS5 and give it to PC.

@curl-6, @Kyuu, @BraLoD— Updated OP. It slipped my mind that Alinea wasn’t the best tracking firm. That’s totally on me, especially being that we’ve already had this conversation in the not-too-distant past lol.

Aha, thanks @Kyuu

I think Switch 2 third party support is promising. I do think that there will be a slight boom and bust considering lots of third party ports will not perform especially well on the platform simply because audiences will prefer the big screen experience of some AAA games. So I think developers will go from trying to port everything to eventually porting only things which the market indicates would be a success because Switch 2 ports still demand more resources than PC/Xbox/playstion.

Of those indicators It will still be broad:
-Japanese IPs
-Games which scale well technically without loosing their appeal (stylised/anime etc)
-indie/AA games.
-household names/IPs like 007, FIFA, hogwarts etc

Nintendo handhelds always have strong 3rd party support. Why would that stop now. Their consoles struggled post SNES but never the handhelds. Switch 2 is fine and will be fine as long as the system is selling well.

To clarify: I’m talking from the perspective of third-party software released across Xbox and PlayStation day-and-date— no Nintendo system, not even the handhelds, has received such strong such strong support since the days of the SNES.

Though the fact that we are even discussing a Nintendo system capable of running home console software from the perspective of Nintendo’s handheld dominance — of which Nintendo has essentially held a monopoly over since the Game & Watch — does suggest to me that you too see this early success as a positive indicator for future third-party support.

People think third party and think all it means is big AAA ports. Switch 2 will have it's share of those but out of the 170 physical games I own on Switch. Most are 3rd party and smaller games. From new and old games of shmups. Arcade games. RPGs and such.  Xbox is losing 3rd party support. Switch 2 will thrive like Switch in a lot of the smaller games. Power difference.  A lot will skip it and some will not. Some surprising big game ports. Just never expect Switch 2 to be getting most. Same as before. Be fine.

For me personally? It was always a mirage because I also own a PS5, and almost every single release runs better on PS5, so I never saw the S2 as being anything other than a 1st/2nd party machine. Maybe if I played in handheld mode all the time, that would be different. But I am exclusively a TV gamer.
