I can't really see PS5 outselling NS2 unless really fumbles the holiday season or do a price increase in the next month or so.

April will be a revealing month, especially because the Pokémania effect seems to have slowed down.

Hey there.  I am one of those people who think the PS5 can still outsell the Switch.  My whole reasoning is that GTA is going to be the biggest launch ever and I dont think people really appreciate how big it's gonna be. The main trailer for GTA 6 is the most viewed video game trailer in YouTube history.  GTA is an industry in and of itself.  While the pricecut certainly made it easier for Nintendo to compete, the only reasonable conclusion is the PS5 is still very capable of finishing on top.

Its not because I want the PS5 or Switch 2 to win... quite frankly, we want them both to do well.  Its about the significance of this game and what it means to so many people.  There are multitudes of people out there who will spend ANY amount of money to play it and it doesn't really matter what we think on an individual or hive mind basis.

As I said before: I can see GTA pushing PS5 ahead for a month or so, but not for the year, not reversing the trend of a console late in it's lifecycle. It will not be enough. But we'll see.

Yes, and in Japan, where we get fast numbers, it did raise the sales of Switch 1 substantially (10K→16K on Lite, and 7K→10K on Oled, and also about 1K more on the base model).

But I play Tomodachi Life on Switch 2. And people will see it as part of the S2 library, as it is readily available.

Just as a side note: in France and Switzerland Tomodachi did beat Pragmata, but not in the UK.

I wonder if that is global and Tomodachi only raises Switch 1. Possible. But at least it can be seen as part of the S2 library, because S1 will be stop selling at some point.

"GTA VI launching November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games released first trailer in December 2023 and the second in May 2025. As a YouTube exclusive, Trailer 1 broke the record for biggest non-music video debut on the platform at over 93 million views in 24 hours. Trailer 2's cross platform debut is the biggest video launch of all time, with over 475 million views in 24 hours"

Thats nearly half a billion view for the second trailer in 24 hours. Such an absolutely unprecidented level of interest in this game.

This is why I don’t understand ppl who downplay the potential for GTAVI to send PS5 sales into overdrive this holiday season. This will be the biggest video game launch in history by a wide margin.
