Attach rates of Switch 2 first party games:

Didn't know DK was way more popular outside Japan, is that due to the IP or it being a 3D platformer? Don't actually know how DK usually does in Japan.

If we include digital only games in the sold Switch 1 software numbers, Switch 1 would already have a software tie ratio above 10, which would be much higher than for any previous Nintendo console. Which shows how succesful third parties have been on Switch 1. Already not counting digital only releases, Switch has a software tie ratio of 9,66, which is a record for Nintendo consoles. Only a few consoles have achieved a software tie ratio above 10: PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and the original Xbox. So that level of software tie ratio has only been possible on non Nintendo consoles previously, due to the weaker third party support and sales on Nintendo consoles. So for Switch to join that milestone shows that lots have changed when it comes to third party sales on Nintendo platforms during the Switch era.

Insane how much Mario Kart has sold already.

Some big milestones this quarter.

- Switch outsells DS
- Switch Passes 1.5 billion software
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe passes 70 million
- Super Mario Odyssey passes 30 million

Switch 2 editions of Switch 1 games like BOTW, TOTK, etc also aren't counted as Switch 2 software apparently.

The physical versions are, the digital versions are counted as a purchase of the Switch 1 version...

Why? No clue, weird ass decision lol.

"Packaged versions of Nintendo Switch 2 Edition software are included in Nintendo Switch 2 software sales units, and downloadable versions are included in Nintendo Switch software sales units."

So a digital purchase of the entire game straight from the S2 eshop are counted as S1 sales, is that what they are saying?

Bc if not, that would make sense, as having only downloading the upgrade means that they previously purchased the S1 version

We reap what we sow

When you have a game like Mario Kart, Nintendo could easily absorb a difficult ram situation in 2026. If I was them I would prioritise getting systems into people's hands over making profit on the hardware.

It seems Famitsu has undertracked Switch 2 sales in Japan by around 500-800k, that puts Switch 2 sales in Japan close to around 5M already. Which means Switch 2 overtaking PS5 lifetime sales in Japan within 12 months after launch is now in play.

Just checked the store, when you buy MP4 on Switch 2 from the eshop its just a bundle of the Switch 1 Edition and Upgrade pack.

So it's impossible to buy MP4 digitally for Switch 2 without getting the Switch 1 version...

So yes all digital copies of MP4 are counted as Switch 1 sales even if you buy the Switch 2 Edition for $70 on the eshop.

Really annoying for tracking how SW1/SW2 sales compare.

Got so hung up on Switch 2 I forgot about Switch 1 software!
