Wii U and Switch outsold the PS4 so Nintendo won that but I doubt the Switch 2 will outsell the PS5

Easily. It's the fastest selling console by far, already above 16m in 7 months ( in 13 days they will confirm it officially too ). I can see it reaching 200m in 10 years and it will cover nearly the others ones whole 10th gen too, consisting of PS6 & Xbox Prime. PS5? Xbox Series S/X? Pah. Switch 2 will ousell Xbox Series S/X by the end of 2026 and PS5 by the end of 2029, they are no big deal. And then will go on to sell even as much as 200m until 2035 or so.

Outselling Xbox Series by the end of this year is possible but PS5 by the end of 2029? No way. Even in a generous scenario of a 2027 PS6 launch making it so the PS5 only does about PS4 numbers it would still need to sell on average 25m a year to even just potentially match it by then and there's no way it's selling that well this year with sales seemingly slowing down some lately and a likely price hike in the coming months.

The 200m part is an even bigger stretch considering the market conditions since the Switch 2 is going to have an extremely hard time competing with the Switch 1's peak years unless some huge event gives it a big sales boost like the latter got and right now world events are only harming its sales.

Championships are determine by hardware mr chrkeller, we've been over this

Hardware?  PC has sold billions of units.  Billions.

You're talking about steam. How many units of hardware has steam sold? If you want to talk about PC, fine I'll go along with it, PC sold billions. How many championships does that put you at?

All of them since 2003.  PC is the biggest market and Steam is the biggest provider.

Consoles are like Kobe vs LeBron, fighting over scraps while everyone knows Jordan is the GOAT.

Good grief some of the console warring in here feels like it fell out of a time machine from 2007.

For the record I'm not being serious.  I'm taking a piss.

Let me help you, you seem confused:

3th gen: NES (1983)

4th gen: Mega Drive (1988)

5th gen: 3DO (1993)

6th gen: Dreamcast (1998)

7th gen: Xbox 360 (2005)

8th gen: Wii U (2012)

See? Nobody can or want to make that claim. It is really baffling how you got to that non sensical conclusion from your exchanges in this thread.

You are the one that is basically saying that Nintendo can't start a generation for no good reason

Nintendo can start a generation, the question is why did switch start 9th gen? What makes it a 9th gen console? Just because its the next nintendo system? I think there needs to be a better explanation than that. Its in an ambiguous spot when looking at timing, so you have to look at other factors in order to classify it.

I don't understand. You argue that Switch is 8th gen and Wii U is 7th gen, but you absolutely refuse to consider the Wii (a console that is practically identical to Gamecube) as 6th gen.

Could you provide a justification, or quote a justification you've given previously?

It's actually really funny, it's so bad it's good.
