1/31/26 Baldur's Gate 3 (Second Playthrough) 70 hours.

Currently working on Metroid Prime 4. Enjoying it so far.

These boss battles are a lot more difficult than I am used to Nintendo games being. It's refreshing, but also kind of annoying to die and then go through a bunch of cutscenes because I missed a save point next to the boss.

2/7/26 Metroid Prime 4.

Overall it was an 8/10 Metroid game with a 4/10 final ending and a 6/10 final boss. The extra characters, motorcycle, and desert area weren't needed. The story's overall plot doesn't get resolved and just ends on a cliffhanger. The combat has improved a little over previous entries but too many enemies with long health bars harass you over and over. And it's always the same enemy type everytime. This really bogs down exploration. But then most of the bosses in this game are good. Just not the last boss.

Starting Expedition 33 on Monday. :)

Finished Games:

  • Astro Bot (PS5)   My rating: 9 / 10
    • Pretty much as great as its reputation would have you believe. One of the best and most imaginative 3D platformers I've played, with a healthy dose of nostalgia on top of it. Only a few of the optional challenge levels tested my patience and interest, but the vast majority of the game is superb.

Currently Playing:

  • Hollow Knight Silksong (PS5)
  • Forgotten Anne (PC)

I've beaten my third game in 2026.

Game: Frog Detective 1: The Haunted Island
Genre: Interactive Adventure
Developer: Grace Bruxner/Thomas Bowker
Publisher: SUPERHOT PRESENTS
System: Steam (PC)
Year of Release: 2018
Date of Completion: January 31st 2026
Length of Playthrough: 1 Hour

+Easy to play and short for people who want a one sitting experience
-Too short
-No replay value
-Writing could have been better even if the target audience is for children

Since this is my first game in the series, nothing to compare it to.

P.S. If anybody wants to recommend some 10/10 games to play I'm listening.

Just Finished: Super Mario Sunshine HD (as part of Super Mario 3D All Stars) (Switch)

This is the only 3D Mario game I hadn't played before. I had a Gamecube but never was interested enough to pick this one up. Obviously it has a middling reputation and I have got to say that it is completely earned. I really wanted to love this game. There are moments when the platforming gameplay is absolutely brilliant. But it is clear that this game was rushed and doesn't have the level of polish found in every other 3D Mario game. The graphics and visual style hold up really well. I enjoyed playing the game both on TV and in handheld mode. The Fludd and water cleaning based gameplay is not a strong enough hook to anchor the gameplay. It is nice that Yoshi shows up and impacts gameplay. There are so many times when the finicky camera or controls led to med dying unnecessarily. The music is pretty good too I guess. It is strange that this game had so much voice acting at the time, which Nintendo has still yet to fully embrace. The secret levels where Mario doesn't have Fludd are among the most frustrating Shines to collect in the game. It makes you wonder if they even tested the game properly. Some of the bosses are fun to play. Bowser Jr.'s introduction was a welcome change for the series. I completed 64 Shines. I will never go for all 120. I saw a video of the secret ending you get if you do complete 120, and it was more underwhelming than I could ever imagine.

Score: 7/10

Full Completed 2026 List:

  • Bayonetta 3 (Switch)
  • Control: Ultimate Edition (PS5)

Been jumping around a bunch of games then was jut casually browsing the PS+ Indies sale, do it on occasions to see if there are any weird bargains. I found Yoku's Island Express years ago, great game. This time I found The Last Campfire for a total of £1.19, 1/4 the cost of a posh coffee. :P

5 hours later, completed it with Plat first time, it as a really nice little adventure puzzle game by Hello Games. Wish they'd make more, kinda think that their success with No Man's Sky would allow their devs to experiment with little games, considering they still only have like 50 employees. guess this was one of them.

Anyway, well recommended little game.

Hmm, pie.
