I doubt it. It’s probably just a quick cameo to set up the Smash Bros. movie.

I think it could be more than a just a quick cameo because they got Glen Powell to voice the character, he's one of the bigger up and coming stars in Hollywood, I suspect he has maybe not quite as big of a role as DK in the first one, but not a tiny role either.

It would be foolish to hype up a character like that when he has little screentime. Sadly it's happened with Disney (the pig in Moana getting upstaged by a brainless chicken) and I think it must have happened with Illumination too.

Just came back from seeing it. Its a fun movie just like the first one. Fox was great, but man, that would just have been such a pleasant surprise not knowing he was in it. Still some cool surprises in the film though.

RT score is now out, it’s once again being shitted on by critics (44% this time, even lower than the first movie), because of course it is. Just reading snippets of bad reviews, they once again went into a Mario movie expecting Shawshank/Citizen Kane/LotR, which is so obtuse, it’s not even funny. It’s fucking Mario. Like come the fuck on, dude.

It’s okay to turn your brain off every now and then. I don’t expect deep character studies/arcs while watching Commando, Expendables, Hard Target, etc. Obvious reasons. These movies need to be looked at from a “is it fun to watch?” lens, not the “is it high art?” lens they’re clearly reviewing it from.

Agree with this 100%, Fox was for sure the highlight for me and wish I hadn't known of it beforehand. Overall, I liked the movie.

Critics shit on it and I see lots of people saying it's just key jingling and melting down over it making money and it's like... okay? Just don't watch it, who cares? I had a good time with it, not sure what everyone's angry about.

People would've put it over social media regardless but if it saved some people from knowing I agree.

It's wild that the protagonist of a disgraced IP got a role in a Mario movie and is rumored to get a new game soon.

I just went back from the movie theater. I liked it but I prefered the first movie

I actually liked it better than the first one because Mario and Luigi are together for most of the movie, and there's surprising character development.

I'm definitely gonna go see it, but I'll go in a week or two once the early crowds and the annoying kids have gone away.

What can I say, I'm in my grumpy old fart era.

Just saw it.

It was really fun, I liked it!

If you loved the first movie, you’ll love the second one.

Whether or not it’s better than the first one or if I found it more enjoyable than the first. I’ can’t say for 100% certain just yet. I’ll need a second viewing to formulate a more solid opinion. But for now? Eh, I’d say they’re about the same level.

From first impressions, I think it did everything better than the first movie except for ONE thing. But that ONE thing, they fucked up so bad that it REALLY brought the whole thing down a notch or two. And if it weren’t for that ONE tjing they got so wrong, I’d be saying that this fipm blows the first one out of the water, easily.

But alas, that’s not the case.

Bottom line:
As a movie in general, it’s not really all that good. Neither was the first one for that matter.

But as a Mario movie? It is absolutely FANTASTIC!
Same as the first one.
