Food should be better regulated, esp. in the States where the guardrails are fewer in number and of dubious efficacy. There should be better rules regarding food safety & labeling, there should be rules regarding things like excess added sugars, and maybe even certain specific additives ought to be banned.
But banning the food itself outright? Nah.
If people choose to eat steaks or salads or ice cream or French toast or fried rice or pizza or whatever else, whether made from scratch, bought from the store, or ordered at a restaurant, that ought to be that person's choice, not the government's. However, people do have a reasonable expectation that their food isn't tainted and isn't processed more than necessary or unnecessarily loaded up with excess sugar or salt, and that is something I think governments ought to be responsible for. Europe does a much better job of this than the U.S.
