You should read his post again.

He is complaying about the actress not being a "real" japanese female or beauty so they should pick another he likes. Also about her being possibly lesbian in the game because she is in real life and that her, the actress, has a voice big enough inside Sucker Punch that is backed by Sony millions of dollars to put her own personal agenda as the game mainline story, as if this is a decision she is even barely involved at.

It's downright pathetic and delusional, to say the least.

If any of that is true, you should be mad as well. We all should be. The difference is people like you and I don't go that far without at least some proof first. They buy in at the slightest hint. So if you want to criticize them, that would be the criticism. That they need some sort of proof.

The simple fact this is being taken off someone ass to pass as a concern is more than reason enough for criticism, that's how this is handled.

What if the dev of that game you like is actually an assassin? What if that company is using slave labor to produce the game? What if that CEO beats up his wife every day when he gets back home?

When I see the word WOKE even being written seriously I already know what to expect to follow.

This is ridiculous, baseless, absurd and merits no consideration to begin with. It's after something is a fact or at least corroborated by multiple inside sources that conversation and actions begin, not the other way around.

And if the dev has any kind of worldview that ends up being political, it's up to everyone to decide by themselves if they are ok with that or not.

There is a lot of politics in many games, shooters for example often use many as the core motivation for the whole story, and that is not automatically bad.

I decide what it bad for me. I decide what is getting out of the genuine to be forced and ruining the experience I expected.

The reason why people are so quick to jump to that conclusion is because of the times we've had to go through. You didn't see much of this before the woke era.

As for your assertion that they artificially shoe-in someone based on their identity... that's exactly the problem. Because you can't choose someone based on their sexual orientation, color of skin or political background without simultaneously rejecting someone else because of the same thing. It's inherently impossible.

The only fair way way out of this mess has always been to ensure all people have the same legal rights, and to give the best, most deserving person the position, regardless of their racial or sexual identity. In other words, merit-only.

Is anyone being hurted because Sucker Punch want to attract more women with a female MC?

I'm in no way making the claim that the actress being used isn't deserving. She very well may be. Only Suck Punch knows that. But if she isn't, if there were better candidates out there, and Sucker Punch intentionally did not interview them, or give them a chance because they were straight women... then yes, those people are being hurt tremendously. And that's, again, the principle problem with casting in the above way. It's inherently exclusionary, flawed and wrong. If what people want is a world where equality is a real thing, then we can't exclude people because of who they sleep with.

Ok, but why are we even speculating this in first place? Do you also speculate that every straight women doing voice acting is there because they are straight and the devs are purposefully excluding lesbian women by any chance?

I already answered that. People are speculating because they've all had to endure it for so many years. People are leery now. It's what happens when something goes too far for too long. It causes mental issues and crazy behavior.

Playing Devils advocate. Doesn't matter about race, Aloy got heavily critized too and the biggest draws for people who want beautiful character are Asians (Just after cat girls, I would reckon) like Eve in Stellar Blade. Also, men get the same treatment, noone wants a fat guy wearing a trash bag like in Covord, even straight men want attractive men as to them these characters look "cool".

Race and Gender don't apply. Horniness and human nature apply. Sex sells, as many gaming studio suits are finding out and we'll see a wave of 90's like sexiness in games in the next few years.

I mean, if people are gooners and want gooners baits there are many games with that specific appeal. They have all rights to consume only soft-porn if they want it lol

What I don't understand is how not having an attractive MC instantly turned to be such a strong political statement. People will play games with pixel art characters that are barely reconazible as human beings, but seems like having a fat guy as payabale character is when we cross the line of wokeness

No, they want AAA, good games with attractive characters. The characters don't need to even show skin, they just want good looking people.

Well, guess we can agree on that lol

Still not a good reason to create an outrage

I went with the "never" option, but only because there was no "With a PC release" option when I cast my vote. I'm not aware of any way to change options.
