Maybe.  Personal opinion, I love graphics being pushed because when GPU upgrades occur is makes older games look even better.  Granted PC has the advantage of settings so people with mid range can tailor their experience.

Don't get me wrong, I love pretty graphics as much as the next guy. I just feel like if your game doesn't even run well for most of your userbase, then you probably should have focused more on performance than eye candy.

Depends on what "run well" means.  I personally hate 30 fps but also accept consoles don't have the horsepower to lock 60 at a high resolution with today's games.

The ps5 is showing its age.  It is 5 years old.  It doesn't feel like it because the software lineup for 2 years has been bad, but it is old hardware.

Per normal cycles we would be looking at a ps6 in 26 or 27.

Dropping as low as 720p while also falling short of 60fps on a PS5 is a pretty poor result on its own, but when you have the PS5 Pro, a $750 premium console, dropping to 756p while running at an even worse framerate than the base system, then you fucked up.

Pushing eye candy to the point where it compromises playability is just bad game development.

Maybe.  Personal opinion, Pro consoles are generally a fuck up.  The Pro has fundamental the same CPU and isn't the total ram the same?  Most Pro consoles are unbalanced and it also appears PSSR leaves a lot to be desired.  And low resolution isn't new to the ps5.  Isn't alan wake 900p (or around there)?

It's not a new thing, in fact UE5 games are repeat offenders when it comes to low resolutions on console.

Just my personal opinion, but if your game can't hold a stable framerate and drops to resolutions worse than most PS4 games on a PS5, then you should rein things in, no point in going crazy with eye candy if performance suffers as a result.

Yes because the hardware on consoles it out of date.  The ps5 is a 2018 (give or take) GPU....

As for the rest, depends on the average gamer.  I get we are into the details but would guess the average gamer will find Snake Eater beautiful and won't even notice the resolution or fps.  We care.  Does the average gamer?

PS5 is still the current gen; just my two cents, devs should focus on making their games run well on current machines instead of pushing eye candy at the expense of performance.

Performance here isn't disastrous by any means, but I would argue that if they lowered some settings to optimize performance, most players wouldn't really notice the cutbacks.

Current yes, but on the back nine.

I'm don't have a problem with developers pushing graphics, especially since the ps6 should be BC.

Can't just look at today, need to think about tomorrow.

Even Chinese devs are implementing better Pro patches and performance on the PS5/Pro than Konami.

This is mostly on Virtuos than the PS5/Pro.

I really hope there are a few patches coming on, but knowing virtuos, doesn't look promising.

I played Silent Hill 2 in 30 fps because the performance mode has lots of drops. It was mostly fine (I don't mind playing games in 30 fps). But lmao here even the graphical mode has drops to the 20s. This is rough

I was planning on buying this game as soon as possible but yeah now I'll just wait for a sale.

Are people that dumb? Theres a day 1 patch on launch day, thats been announced weeks ago. Yet streamers on youtube making a big deal of a prelaunch unpatched version.
