I’ve never paid attention to the Switch - I’m not even sure I’ve seen one before.
From what I’ve read, the Switch 2 doesn’t seem fond of physical games (something to do with Game Key Cards), so while I’m indifferent toward the original Switch, I guess I have a reason to dislike its successor.

Nintendo's games are all physical. So if you already own a PS5 or plan to go that rout, you can have almost all bases covered... physically.

No. Because Game Key Cards.

My PS5 takes care of that.

High chance, as ive barely played my Switch tbh.

But I expect itll be about the same experience for me.

I don't disagree the screen is awful and the battery is meh, but it clearly (overall) is a huge upgrade.  0.3 TF to around 4 TF.  25 gb/s to 102 gb/s.  DLSS, etc.  it is a massive upgrade.

edit

256 cuda cores to 1536 cuda cores.  Some aspect of the S2 are a bit disappointing (lack of VRR docked), but nobody in their right mind can call it a downgrade.  The S2 decimates the S1 in performance.

There is obviously a massive hardware improvement, that puts Nintendo in the same camp as current generation consoles from a hardware feature-set perspective.
Teraflops are irrelevant as it doesn't reflect how many TOPS the Switch 2 has.

Switch 2 is a downgrade in several key aspects such as:
* Display. OLED has amazing inky blacks and brilliant colours, with minimal ghosting.
* Battery Life. - With the OLED I can play Breath of the Wild for 5-6 hours. Switch 2? Sometimes less than half that at 2-3 hours. - Guess which one I am taking for that long flight?

A better display and Tegra chip could have fixed both of these issues, but I guess that will happen later with the inevitable "enhanced" console.

The Switch 2 is definitely the successor, but it's also a downgrade compared to the OLED in many areas.

Switch 2 does already have one big step up over Switch 1 for me, in that it has its own Mario Kart and Donkey Kong games; the absence of both was one of my few disappointments with Switch 1, as someone who already played Mario Kart 8 and Tropical Freeze on Wii U back in 2014.

Playing the enhanced versions of the Zelda games at 60fps is already making me enjoy it more than the OG Switch. Hopefully, they’ll make similar enhancements for other of their big games, like the Xenoblade series.

If they make 60fps the standard going forward, then this is a no-brainer.

No. I'm a busy, middle-aged man now. I have a family, which results in a lot less gaming time. So, I think it's unlikely that I'll get more enjoyment out of Switch 2 than Switch, even if it is a better system and even if it has better games.

Switch 2 easily.

I'm already enjoying it more simply through playing S1 games in back compat mode.

The launch window line up is less exciting but there's clearly a wider variety of games coming to the platform with more 3rd party offerings and with less severe sacrifices. Last gen if I had to choose between the Switch game and Playstation version, it would almost always be the playstation version unless it was sprite based, side scrolling or isometric. Now there are plenty of 3D AA games that will be very close to the Playstation. Take for example Kunitsu Gami... Essentially the S2 is guaranteed to get more use from me for a wider variety of games.

Yeah, as someone who played a lot of third party ports on Switch 1, something like Kunitsu-gami (brilliant game btw) feels a lot more intact than your average PS4/XBO port to Switch.
