Women love the Yakuza franchise. They should make a game with a female protagonist.

Holy shit. Everyone is old! lol. What are the kids and teens playing, I wonder.

They are the motor if Nintendo is current succes, however the statistic is a bit worrying as well. If your average player base is age is 35 or even 40+, how future proof is that player base. Especially if some titles are in the mid 20's. At this moment the older player bases have more money, but eventually they will game less or stop gaming. Will newer generations pick up those games. In FF is case the most likely answer is no.

There was apparently only one full female member IRL, but obviously the games are a work of fiction. It could be worth trying at some point. Yakuza was perhaps the only stat here that surprised me.

The respondents were aged 15-69 so it'd be really hard to get a median in the teens.

Still, some of those averages... 😬

Kirby is predominantly loved by females over there ... Honestly, it checks out with the esthetics of the games.

But... I thought he was one tough cream puff?

That's only what we guys tell ourselves to make it sound alright.

Nothing dark or somber here. Just cuteness and good vibes ♥️

I don't know how the survey was taken. But if it is about 'paying' customers, then yes it would be parents not children. That would raise the age.

Even if not, for Nintendo games giving they tend to stay at their price point, that would be an older customer base. Younger gamers would probably more interested in more affordable options or free to play format.

Smartphone games, mostly.

I mean, I have a nephew who never had a console or a computer and tried to play a game on my Switch, namely Dragon Quest Builders. He couldn't even get out of the cave where you're starting the game. That was already too complicated for him, moving camera and character was simply too much. I then tried Super Mario Bros 3 on the NSO and that went slightly better, though he still lost all his lives in the first level.

Smartphone games are much more simplistic for the most part, so much so that kids who only grew up with them get confused with control schemes of modern or even older games. Also, they're designed to be much more gratifying and as a result, since console/PC games generally lack this, he got bored almost instantly because it lacks the gratification.

Only things he's playing on my Switch now are Snipperclips and Smash, where he's surprisingly adept considering the problems mentioned above.

Perhaps you should introduce him to Mario Kart World. Not much to knock-out mode. Steer kart, hold gas, throw items at people. Even if he sucks at it, he'll probably have fun. And with auto-steer on, it's less likely he'll go sightseeing lol You might even have some luck starting him in free roam, you know, to let him get familiar with the mechanics etc.

I did Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Had to put the Antenna on him because he was constantly driving off edges of the track, though he has gotten somewhat better by now. Which means he doesn't always finish dead last anymore but he still only rarely wins a race against the CPU at 50cc.

Ironically his sister, who isn't gaming on her phone much, generally outraces her little brother pretty much all the time even though he had already several hours of playtime before they raced against each other at first. Which probably shows that the lack of influence of phone games had a positive effect when it came to console games.

That would take away what women love about the Yakuza franchise, though.  It's definitely not the female characters.
