Forums - Gaming - GOTY 2025 - Predictions

So we are past the first half of the year, and with dedicated streams to both Donkey Kong Bananza and Ghost of Yotei, I think we have enough to at least guess which games should be making TGA's top 6 nominees and also winning the most awards industry wise.

I'll present some games I think have a decent to big chance of being nominees for most awards out there, but feel free to pick whatever games you think will make it.

The list, with/without metacritic scores:

93 - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

92 - Blue Prince

91 - Split Fiction

89 - Death Stranding 2

88 - Monster Hunter Wilds

88 - Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

86 - Mario Kart World

85 - Doom: The Dark Ages

?? - Donkey Kong Bananza

?? - Ghost of Yotei

?? - Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

?? - Ninja Gaiden 4

?? - Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

?? - Hollow Knight: Silksong

So, considering the games marked as ?? are at least still confirmed to 2025 or have actual release dates, here goes my 6 games predicition.

1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (winner, no order below)

2. Split Fiction

3. Death Stranding 2

4. Ghost ot Yotei

5. Hollow Knight: Silksong

6. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

I think Donkey Kong Bananza will score really high but will still miss the top 6 for TGA.

For the winner, to me it looks like Expedition 33 will be the biggest winner this year at the TGA and overall, but I'm not sure it'll be the winner overall with a big lead, I think we will see a good spread of awards this year, I can see many games getting at least 10 awards overall at the end of the year. I think Death Stranding 2 should come second but games like Donkey Kong and Yotei should steal a lot of people hearts, as in my case.

My personal pick seems likely to be Ghost of Yotei, which prompted me to make this thread, but what about yours? Which games should be the most celebrated this year?

Expedition 33 really deserves to take the award. A very small team managed to make what the AAA industry is failing to create for years.

But... I can see Death Stranding 2 winning, because... Well, you know...

I'm waiting for the chance to pick a physical copy for PS5 but prices here in Brazil are beyond shameless, if you already tried looking it up.

DS2 got a lot of 10 scores for a game scoring 89/90, so I guess a good amount of reviewers do consider it a strong goty contender, even as others are not that much into it.

While it will probably go to Claire, it's probably a game no one will even remember 10 years from now. People will still be playing Mario Kart World and having a great time with it.

Atm Expedition 33 is my GOTY.

Shinobi Art of Vengeance

Expedition 33 is most likely going to win and I feel it would be deserving of it. Not my personal GOTY, but I can see it is to so many.

Though Geoff's BFF getting some great scores on his game may have a chance lol

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Ninja Gaiden II Black

Ninja Gaiden 4

Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion

TGAs don't matter and are complete garbage. Corp sponsors and the yearly Geoff giving Kojima a blowjob on stage. So, only posting what I think will end up being mine.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Expedition 33 is gonna sweep and take the gold mostly. There's something about Death Stranding 2 though, it's quality is insane, the VA, the production that could make it default. KCD2 has the complex simulation on it's side and the great writing but it was very early in the year and all three have the OST's but E33 has it all in one package and it's been widely recognised by both gamers and media.

Predicting Silksong to actually come out this year is very bold.
