Very early impressions (only used for about two hours)

Joy-Con 2 is awesome so far, but the Grip is worse in the hand than the Joy-Con 1 Grip. But handheld mode still feels fine enough.
Mario Kart World is fun despite the fact that I probably won't like it better than 8 Deluxe.
Virtual Game Cards are dumb. I should just be able to pull my Switch games from my library.
Welcome Tour is ok so far (only played a few activities) but it really should be free or at the very least included with the Expansion Pack instead of a purchase for everyone.
Hori Screen Protector sucks. I tried to put it on right and still air bubbles. I'm going to need to get a glass one eventually.

Got mine yesterday

Was really excited to play some of my Switch 1 games

But I was left a really underwhelmed by how low resolution they play on handheld mode. Because of the lower resolution it looks very blurry and low quality when playing in the biggest screen of Switch 2

Zelda TOTK look a bit worse in docked mode as well. I was planning to buy the upgrade anyways, but I still have Switch 1 games that got no upgrade. Fire Emblem Engage looks more pixilated in docked mode when compared to docked in Switch 1

I was not expecting that at all. Left me a sour first impression because what's the point of having a brand new more powerful console that play gamers worse than an older console?

I can only hope more games get new free upgrades so they can play better on Switch 2

Even while docked?

I remember people complaining about it while playing it handheld as it's stretching the image and making it blurry, but it can look worse on the TV as well?

Zelda unlikely won't receive a free update as Nintendo are reselling the games at full price for the Switch 2.

I ended up just buying a physical copy of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom for Switch 2... So now I own Breath of the Wild across 3 console generations on Physical... Full price.
I don't know how Nintendo does it, but they have gotten almost $300 AUD out of me for that one game. (To be fair, it's an absolute cracking game.)

Yes. It's more pixalated due to the upscalling I think. I spent the afternoon replaying Metroid Dread and the graphics were worse than Switch 1 version

Some people on reddit stated it was because the HDR was on. I'll try it again with it turned off when I'm back home, but it will be really annoying to be turning HDR on and off when I change games

Games locked to 720p while on handheld being simply upscalled to 1080p will be a 1.5x increase and really won't look great indeed, even worse as it may be a more broken number bellow 720p to begin with, so without a patch it really can't be fixed.

But while docked games must have had the 1080p internal render so the upscalling would not look as bad on the TV, so I dunno why it also looks this noticably worse on your TV as well.

No, docked visuals of S1 games are the exact same as on the original Switch. Can confirm this.

Handheld on the other hand looks noticeably worse. It's not terrible on 720p games, but anything that runs under that is gonna look way worse on Switch 2.

Also, maybe your Switch 2 is being overscalled in your TV? Check the screen size % (if it still works the same as the Switch 1) and make sure if it's 100% that the arrows are perfectly lined with the TV conners, if not you may have to bring the % down as the image may be kinda zoomed in.

Not always; games with dynamic resolution will be higher res on Switch 2 cos they're no longer hitting performance limits.

I'll try that. If it doesn't work I will record how TOTK is running on both systems and ask if someone has some insight of why it's more pixalated when running on Switch 2
