I competed the system transfer this morning. Downloading Mario Kart World and Fast Fusion now.

It definitely feels more premium than the Switch. The Joy-Con magnet system is great. Love how snappy and clicky everything is :)

I completed the system transfer but the "What is the system transfer" didnt mention it would transfer the games, that it only transfers save data, Mii data, system settings, etc.

So...I had to delete that 100+ games that were installed on my 1.5 TB SD card that decided to pop up after the transfer....there wasnt a multiselect option so it took me a few minutes to delete all of the auto install games.

1. I made my Switch 2 my primary Switch console between my three Switches. Downloaded MK World, Super Mario 3D All Stars and Super Smash Bros Ultimate since those are the first three games I'm planning to play.

Noticed it prompted me to load virtual cards....which was odd because I'm on my primary switch and the games were downloaded.

After checking up online, noticed there was a place in the User settings to choose Online Licensing - I had to turn it on for my Switch 2 so the Virtual card option wont prompt - thats nice and all but any other game I wanted to download...I have to go into the Virtual Card settings and choose to "Download" in the "Redownload Software" section, its just an extra step so its whatever but still lol.

I wanted a clean start without all the Switch 1 games in the library which don't get a SW2 upgrade.

So I made a fresh Nintendo account for all my future eShop purchases. My "primary console" for that account is the Switch 2 and I added that new account as "secondary console" on my Switch 1 OLED.

My old account will only be used for Switch 1 games. My "primary console" for that account is the Switch 1 OLED and I added that old account as "secondary console" on my Switch 2.

This way, I can play most of my SW1 games offline on my Switch 1 OLED and I can play all my upgraded SW1 games and all my SW2 games offline on my Switch 2.

I only transfered the save games of the following games to my Switch 2:

  • Captain Toad Treasure tracker (also moved the DLC as "virtual card" onto the Switch 2)
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Super Mario Wonder
  • Zelda Breath of the Wild (also moved the expansion pass as "virtual card" onto the Switch 2 and bought the SW2-upgrade)
  • Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (also bought the SW2-upgrade for the new account)
  • Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
  • Zelda Link's Awakening
  • Astral Chain (I'm hoping for a SW2-upgrade)
  • Bayonetta 3 (already better performance on Switch 2, I'm hoping for a SW2-upgrade)
  • Diablo 3 Eternal Collection (tiny text is better readable on the bigger handheld screen)

Then I activated Mario Kart World (for the new account) and bought Fast Fusion (for the new account).

I also inserted (successively) every of my physical Switch 1 games into the Switch 2, started them and installed all their necessary updates.

When other of my Switch 1 games get a SW2 upgrade, I'll move them to the Switch 2 and transfer their save data.

Compared to Switch 1 it feels a lot more premium, in everything from the look of it to the new magnetic Joycon connections to the larger screen.

Setup was relatively painless for a modern device thankfully, (still miss the days of plug and play though) and the graphical bump is substantial.

I'm very happy with it so far.

Aside from my dumbass that could find the AC Adapter to my Switch but was using the charger cable for my pro controller instead.

The transfer process from my Switch 1 to Switch 2 was pretty painless. Did it because I do not think there's anything in particular I wanna keep on the OG console.

Only managed to test the one game that is called Xenoblade Chronicles X in handheld mode and it's Switch 1 handheld profile mode performed similarly to the docked version, then the Switch 2 experience seemed like a full-on smooth 30fps in NLA which the most major stress point in the game. Hopefully it maintains it while docked too !

As for the rest of my downloads, that'll be MK World first with Deltarune Chapter 1-4 and Fast Fusion will be in the early mix 👌

I like what I'm seeing of the screen quality. Going from the OG Switch to this is a bit wild in comparison form.

Also the JoyCons got a bit more tune and form to them than their previous counterparts as well which is welcome. Surprisingly enough the ZR/ZL buttons are the only thing I wouldn't call a straight upgrade over the Switch 1.

Haven't had time to set up my new pro controller for docked play ....

So much to do, much to play but not enough time currently 😕

It's the Switch 2 alright.
In terms of presentation, display, and interface, it's a huge leap forward from Switch 1 in just about every way.

Mario Kart World has been great so far - Though there is a learning curve after playing '8' for so long.
And GameCube NSO!!! YESSSSSS!!!!

It's fine. The build quality is good. Screen is nice. But so far I've pretty much just been playing the games I had been working on on my Switch so it's kind of the samish experience.

  • the black level of the display is very nice for a LCD screen
  • the magnet system for the Joy-Cons works great... very sturdy!
  • much better ergonomics than the old Switch models! It lays almost as good in my hands as my Steam Deck
  • sticks, buttons and touchscreen are very responsive
  • it is 100 grams lighter than my Steam Deck OLED, but in my weigh perception it feels even a bit heavier... probably due to the compacter form factor
  • you can skip the TV connection tutorial... great! Haven't decided yet, which display I'll use for docked mode
  • I like the new eShop login method via QR-code... no password typing anymore, just using the camera app of my smartphone
  • You can limit your battery to 90% for a lower battery degredation

Why the PS5 controller? For size comparison?

Usually I don't use Nintendo Online besides some 7-day-trials.

But yesterday I activated the 1-year-code which was included in my retail version of Tetris 99.

So I can play Mario Kart World online for a year and check the emulation quality of GameCube, N64, GBA, SNES, GB and NES games.

By the way, is Street Fighter 6 the only SW2 game with a demo version so far?

Damn, I confused it with my Switch 1 Pro controller, which is now connected to my Switch 2.

We understand the mistake, especially when you've got one of the most smashing Pro controller out there !

Infinite regret of taking that Xenoblade 2 special Pro controller :(

I'd like to know more about charging the battery to only 90%. It improves the life expectation of the battery, but at the same time it reduces the playtime per charge by 5-15 minutes depending on the game? Is that the tradeoff?

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
