I competed the system transfer this morning. Downloading Mario Kart World and Fast Fusion now.

It definitely feels more premium than the Switch. The Joy-Con magnet system is great. Love how snappy and clicky everything is :)

I completed the system transfer but the "What is the system transfer" didnt mention it would transfer the games, that it only transfers save data, Mii data, system settings, etc.

So...I had to delete that 100+ games that were installed on my 1.5 TB SD card that decided to pop up after the transfer....there wasnt a multiselect option so it took me a few minutes to delete all of the auto install games.

1. I made my Switch 2 my primary Switch console between my three Switches. Downloaded MK World, Super Mario 3D All Stars and Super Smash Bros Ultimate since those are the first three games I'm planning to play.

Noticed it prompted me to load virtual cards....which was odd because I'm on my primary switch and the games were downloaded.

After checking up online, noticed there was a place in the User settings to choose Online Licensing - I had to turn it on for my Switch 2 so the Virtual card option wont prompt - thats nice and all but any other game I wanted to download...I have to go into the Virtual Card settings and choose to "Download" in the "Redownload Software" section, its just an extra step so its whatever but still lol.

I wanted a clean start without all the Switch 1 games in the library which don't get a SW2 upgrade.

So I made a fresh Nintendo account for all my future eShop purchases. My "primary console" for that account is the Switch 2 and I added that new account as "secondary console" on my Switch 1 OLED.

My old account will only be used for Switch 1 games. My "primary console" for that account is the Switch 1 OLED and I added that old account as "secondary console" on my Switch 2.

This way, I can play most of my SW1 games offline on my Switch 1 OLED and I can play all my upgraded SW1 games and all my SW2 games offline on my Switch 2.

I only transfered the save games of the following games to my Switch 2:

  • Captain Toad Treasure tracker (also moved the DLC as "virtual card" onto the Switch 2)
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Super Mario Wonder
  • Zelda Breath of the Wild (also moved the expansion pass as "virtual card" onto the Switch 2 and bought the SW2-upgrade)
  • Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (also bought the SW2-upgrade for the new account)
  • Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
  • Zelda Link's Awakening
  • Astral Chain (I'm hoping for a SW2-upgrade)
  • Bayonetta 3 (already better performance on Switch 2, I'm hoping for a SW2-upgrade)
  • Diablo 3 Eternal Collection (tiny text is better readable on the bigger handheld screen)

Then I activated Mario Kart World (for the new account) and bought Fast Fusion (for the new account).

I also inserted (successively) every of my physical Switch 1 games into the Switch 2, started them and installed all their necessary updates.

When other of my Switch 1 games get a SW2 upgrade, I'll move them to the Switch 2 and transfer their save data.
