See Master thread for links to other countries threads and poll, read rules, and tell me which country should receive a thread next:

The Czech Republic actually received as many votes in the master thread as Norway, so I figured I should get it out as fast as possible, also considering the Norwegian list doesn’t have all that many popular titles. The Czech Republic is thankfully a whole other BEAST in the industry, especially in recent years.

2K Czech/Illusion Softworks

Cetainly a major factor in the Czech game industry, though unfortunately defunct. They are famous for the tactical shooters Hidden and Dangerous and the sequel, but probably most for the first two Mafia games, which are celebrated open-world action-adventure games, often compared to GTA. Other hits include Vietcong, and even the tennis game Top Spin 4 was a critical success.

Notable games:

Hidden and Dangerous

Mafia

Hidden and Dangerous 2

Vietcong

Mafia 2

Top Spin 4

Bohemian Interactive Studio:

A studio that has specialized itself in tactical shooters with Operation Flashpoint and the popular Arma series. More recently the survival multiplayer games DayZ and Vigor became very popular.

Notable games:

Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis

Arma: Armed Assault

Arma 2

Arma 3

DayZ

Vigor

Warhorse Studios

Warhorse Studios is a rather young studio, but has already managed to raise to the top tier of European developers thanks to just two games. Kingdom Come: Deliverance was a hit, but its sequel was a sensation! I would not be surprised if it takes several game of the year awards.

Notable games:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Amanita Design

Very interesting indie developer, Machinarium was a breakthrough success. A very stylistic point and click game. Amazingly every single game they have released since has been a critical success, although without attracting quite as much attention.

Notable games:

Machinarium

Botanicula

Samorost 3

Chuchel

Pilgrims

Creaks

Happy Game

SCS Software

They specialized themselves in big vehicle simulators of all things. Perhaps not a type of game for everybody, but you wouldn’t believe how popular Euro Truck Simulator 2 is!

Notable games:

Euro Truck Simulator 2

American Truck Simulator

Other games to consider:

Achtung, die Kurve!

Shadowgun

Silent Hill: Downpour

Beat Saber

Gyro13

Dead Trigger

Hero of Many

Reaper: Tale of a Pale Swordsman

Attentat 1942

Space Engineers

Factorio

Last Train Home

Hrot

KCD definitely helped put Czechia on the map in the way The Witcher did for Poland. I don't think KCD will ever be as big as Witcher or Cyberpunk, but it's a step in that direction.

Of all Czech games, I only played DayZ. I played it much before the battle royale genre kicked off, but the genre never really interested me much.

Factorio is the only one I've played from this list. So I guess the choice is simple

The world belongs to you-Pan America

Beat Saver but I'm positive KCD2 kill top it, KCD1 is very close to beating out Beat Saber already. I desperately want to play factorio but I doubt it'll ever get a console port.

KCD doesn't have to be, as long as the studio get success their future more approachable project may become a Cyberpunk, The Witcher 3, Elden Ring or Baldurs Gate 3 situation based on the studios rep. It inly just takes hype to reach a critical level and it cascades out of the boundaries of an IP and into the studio as an entity itself.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is an absolute triumph! It perfected Bethesda Game Studios formula for crack cocaine of open world games lol

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

It was exciting to see DayZ, which started as an Arma 3 mod, grow and gain popularity. As for VR, Beat Saber is the essential game for any new device.

My top Czech game pick is Archibald's Adventures, I had a blast playing it on PC.

Just stumbled upon a Czech hospital management game on Wikipedia. Might have to give it a try!

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

I have three Czech games: Mafia 1, Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe and El Matador.
I haven't really gotten into H&D.
El Matador is objectively pretty bad game.
So that leaves Mafia. I don't really like the (TPS) gameplay, especially gun inventory system is clumsy. But it's interesting and atmospheric game and the story is definitely one of best in anything I've played.

Mafia 2, 15yrs old …. That title music brings back so much nostalgia.
