Forums - Nintendo - Switch 2 game cases: What's your take?

As you might have guessed the Switch 2 game cases have the same dimensions as Switch.
Nintendo is mixing up its box art this new generation with red cases and artwork that now wraps around the spine of the case.

Only issue with the red cases is it will most likely have no inside box art. Is it worth it?

They absolutely needed to differentiate the two, so I get it. And I actually like the new style. That deep red is very eye-catching. The only thing I don’t love is the spine. I don’t mind that the art wraps around — it reminds me of GCN games, in the best way — but I don’t really dig that the art is sandwiched between two red bars.

Idk if i missed this, but on the side they didn't put the "2" alongside the logo, right?

Edit: nevermind already googled the images on the Switch 2 showcase and it has a "2" right below the logo. I probably saw some beta promotional art

We reap what we sow

Obvious they would make it different so people wouldnt be confused especially when there will be two versions of some games.

For me, its fine , I dont plan to buy any physical copies of any of the games on Switch 2.

Another thing I am not really a fan off, is the top Switch 2 banner, as it takes up too much space from the rest of the box art.

Looks different enough. I will miss the uniform red spines tho.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

The idea is to make them ugly so physical collectors are less... inclined. Anything you can spot "wrong" with physical media from any company is all designed to push towards a digital future.

Well, goodbye to having some cool-looking artwork inside the case now...

WTF. No. It's made to look distinctly different from Switch 1 so somebody doesn't buy a Switch 2 game and wonder why it doesn't work in their Switch 1.  I worked in Gamestores, and clueless moms would call things Xcube, and I had 20-something-year-old dudes wonder why their PS3 game didn't play on PS2. If ugly packaging is all it took to ward off collectors, then US SEGA Saturn games would be the cheapest things to buy for retro gamers...*spoiler* they're expensive as hell.

You can't change my mind on this. 64GB carts to f9rce 90 price tags and download Keys and ugly packaging.
