Are you asking whether the Oblivion Remaster will not only close a 25 million gap, but also stay ahead as the BotW Remaster keeps selling on Switch 2? I don't follow, the answer should be obvious.

If it's merely about this year's sales, I think the answer is almost equally obvious - the Zelda Remaster will sell bucket-loads, regardless of pricing. Nintendo gamers are not shy about paying for games, historical 1st party sales data will prove as much. A new platform launch with limited software during the launch window will further help sales of Zelda.

All that said; I'm absolutely loving the Oblivion Remaster, and I've managed to get about 20 hours in already. It's the first good thing from Bethesda for about a decade (Fallout 4 was good).

I was excited for Oblivion until I found out that they merely slapped UE5 over the game while keeping the exact same game with the exact same bugs and everything. Can't even fix them because I solely play on consoles these days and I heard there isn't even mod support on PC. So I'm not playing the Oblivion Remaster anytime soon. I will play Zelda on Switch 2 though because I don't have to pay anything for it.

When it comes to sales, obviously Zelda will sell more.

Zelda has a 25 million unit lead, the original is still selling, and the idea you need to pay $90 for it is nonsense as the DLC's quite unnecessary.

Oblivion is also on Gamepass which will kill its Xbox sales.

That said, we'll probably never know how much the latter actually sells as they'll report "players" rather than copies sold.

Oblivion Remaster is clearly way better value and consumer friendly than what Nintendo are pulling with the BOTW re-release.

But there's zero point in comparing sales. Oblivion Remaster is on gamepass, Oblivion Remaster sales will never be revealed. BOTW has already sold over 30m so the full Switch 2 Edition sales will be lower and they may get the $10 switch 2 upgrade instead who's sales will never be revealed and can't be compared to a full game purchase. The upgrade is also free with NSO+Expansion.

Oblivion is also available on an active install base of well over 200m while BOTW Switch 2 edition is starting with an install base of 0.

There is no possible way to compare the sales of these two products in a way that makes sense even if we ever actually knew the sales.

well duh that's why it's called "Remastered".

There's no official mod support. You can mod it on PC as any other Bethesda game though.

My thoughts exactly. We’ll never know the sales figures of Oblivion, only “player numbers.” Also, BotW (NSW2 Edition) is $70…not $90.

As somebody who considers BotW to be my favorite game (well…second to TotK), I have to strongly disagree with your statement about “way better value.” However, I do agree that the $50 Oblivion remaster is much more consumer friendly than the $70 BotW remaster.

This table illustrates what happens when facts are mixed with fiction. There are five bullet points followed by a lot of bullshit to skew the perception of the games in question.

What is a fan? That is easily defined as "a gamer who owns the original version of the game."

Will any fan of the PC version consider $50 a steal when even Nintendo of all companies provides a $10 upgrade path for its own fans (or $30 if they have yet to buy the DLC)? What a laughable idea. I could see PS and Xbox fans of Oblivion being stupid enough to consider the price difference that is to their own disadvantage a positive, but even that is not going to be a noteworthy number of gamers.

The so-called "fan sentiment on pricing" is a summary of the opinions of people who couldn't care less about either game, but will gladly take any opportunity to bash Nintendo.

As for the question of sales, I have to agree with others here that the questions posed in the OP are ambiguous and that we likely won't get to know all required facts for a proper conclusion.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

Oooh boi, if only this could've been a straightforward comparison in terms of sales which as others pointed out because of Gamepass and Microsoft unwillingness to divulge actual sales numbers will make this even more difficult to gage.

Anywoo, considering the scope of both projects are so different (one being an upgrade port to the next gen console, the other being a full-on graphical remake but not an actual overhaul of it's mechanics) that sales target likely will differ greatly.
Are we supposed to count people who only buy the Switch 2 upgrade pack also in the total sales ? Will Nintendo add those numbers, we don't know.
