Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony and Xbox are also upping games to 79,99 euro.

I will...

Not buy games above 70 euro 18 62.07%

Buy games at 80 to 90 or above 7 24.14%

Don't buy games at all 4 13.79%

Total:29

Better off just sticking to PC at this stage, steam regularly has good sales.

When you can pick up 5 good PC games off steam for the price of one new console release the choice is pretty clear.

Difference between Microsoft/Sony and Nintendo is... Microsoft/Sony games get discounted pretty rapidly.
Nintendo games don't.

Which makes it so much worse.
I love to go "I would like too play this,... but not at that price. I'll wait for a bargin/sale".

With nintendo that won't happend.
Which is why their higher price point, is so much more off putting to me.

I have a Switch, and games for it.
I was hoping I could get like a 399$ Switch 2, and be happy.
Things would just work, I'd put a Switch 1 cartridge into it, and just play it again if I wanted.
They would run and look better ect.  Nope.... I need to pay for upgrade packs ect.
And Switch is 50-100$ more expensive than I thought it would be.
Then new Nintendo games are 80-90$ ontop? .... No.  Mario Kart World isn't doing it for me.

I will own a Switch 2 on launch day... Already pre-ordered.
But the amount of money I invest in the platform over the long term is likely to be significantly reduced... I.E. I'll just buy Nintendo developed exclusives and that's all.

I have several hundred Switch games, because many games were well-priced in my eyes, hence the additional purchases.

I think this generation will be the perfect excuse to have cheaper SKU's to sell to gamers... Switch 2 Lite and a Switch TV would make sense.

Or perhaps I'm wrong on this. Idk what's happening here are Nintendo actually fucking the Americans but not us Europeans or are European sites estimating. I need more data on pysical prices in Europe, anyone got some with VAT included and making sure VAT is included. Japan seems to get away quite alright too with tax included so maybe it's just the Americans who are getting fucked on this one. Only the console seems to be showing VAT charges.

A store here (Netherlands) says Mario Kart World is €84,99. So that includes taxes. And it can’t be more because the store isn’t allowed to charge more after the fact, so they’d lose money if they would be underestimating it.

That's odd. VAT is 23 percent and the currency exchange doesn't make sense much like the Japnanese prices don't make sense. They're just pulling numbers out their arse hole.

I don’t know.

But here you go; Nedgame

Mario Kart 84,99, pretty much the rest 74,99.

I suppose that's not bad at all considering what it could have been, they are using the price increase to hide some VAT at least. It's just an attack on the Americans so, maybe it is in anticipation of tariffs afterall and a way to secure price now and no sudden increases later on 🤔.

Physical retailers can be and have been much more fluid with their pricing on physical games during the Switch lifetime. We've already got examples of people finding their copies of Mario Kart World for 69€.

So basically, be a smarter shopper there if you want to go cheaper anyway.
We're not going to be so much in luck here in NA ...

Is it only australia feeling the cost of living issues or globally? it sucks how big corporate companies don't give a dam about the consumers. Just keep putting up prices to keep shareholders happy and the billions more in growth.

I've already been paying $90 CAD for new games. Difference is I used to buy several games a month (when it was 50/60 at ps4 launch), nowadays I buy several games a year.

Switch 2 will launch here for$629 CAD, almost as much as PS5 slim with disc drive ($649 CAD). $699 CAD with MKW.
Physical copies at $90 USD, work out to $126 CAD after exchange rates. Add 13% tax on top and no thanks you no way.
$142 for a game lol. 40% more than PS5 games.

Silent Hill F is priced at $99.99 CAD which is insane. I'm crushed because I love Silent hill and this game looks great but no way am I paying $100 before tax for it. Will wait for a sale or marketplace deals. Same will be happening with Nintendo for me. Nintendo are the worst because they rarely offer sales or deep discounts on old games. Hell they are selling Kirby and the forgotten land for $80 USD for Switch 2 which is ridiculous!
