The fateful day finally arrived.  Nintendo has made their big Switch 2 presentation.  Now that Nintendo has shown us the initial offering for the Switch 2, it is the perfect time to make a lifetime sales prediction for hardware.  Please tell us what you think Switch 2 will sell, lifetime, and why.

Less than Switch more than Wii.

Between 3DS and Wii.

However....I'm expecting for Nintendo to launch VR "console" (basically something like Quest) in next few years as their additional platform.

I'm gonna have to choose two options and say between 75-125m we don't know enough to narrow it down beyond that at this point. If it was announced at $400 and with less off-putting pricing for games (including the demo game being free) I'd say 100m was in the bag. Even if digital is growing I don't think the physical price increase should be ignored because parents considering getting the system for their kids will see those prices and go "yikes".

Untrue.  With all due respect to that other thread.  Most of the posts were made before the Switch 2 was revealed.

This thread is meant to be a reaction to the Switch 2 presentation to see what are initial impressions are of how it will do.  These types of threads are nice to bump up a few years later so we can compare our initial impressions to how the Switch 2 is actually performing.  No one is going to want to sort through the first 200 posts of the other thread to get to people's impressions of the Switch 2 reveal.

I am still optimistic. Nintendo will up their game with the hardware upgrade, plus their brand is strong than ever by switch success, mario movie and the thematic parks in USA and Japan. Obviously they will continue to improve their presence by their future projects and that will only help Switch 2 sales for the next years.

The pricing sucks, but it is exactly how Sony/MS and other developers when they raised to $70/80 benchmark, people hated, throwed tantrums on internet but the sales took any significant hit. The same will happen for next gen and people will continue to buy what they want to play.

Felling sorry for those who want a Dark age for Nintendo... it wont happen

We reap what we sow

I'm upset with the launch price, and the game prices.
I think it sells less than the Switch 1 did.
Ei. I think lifetime sales will be way below 140m.

I'm guessing if things stay as they are, they don't go much over 100m.

voted "75.1 - 100 million".

I think it fails to hit the heights of PS2/DS/NSW (150+ million) but I see it being well above Wii/PS1 level (~100 million). I’ll go with 120-130 million so a bit above GB/PS4 level.
