Sell it? Trade it in? Give it to a friend or family member for free? Retire it and keep it as a spare? Semi-retire it, or even use it a lot?

I’m personally trading mine in. I already confirmed my Switch library will either be backwards compatible or will get a free Switch 2 update.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

I’ve made a habit of gifting my Switches to family members when I upgrade, but my current Switch is the TotK Zelda OLED. It’s too precious to me. So it will go into retirement.

I have two Switches - an OG (with a better battery 2020 edition and a OLED).

OG Switch (2020 Edition) - retire and stored away alongside my PS2, Wii, etc

Switch OLED - will be used for portable gaming like how it is now and playing only third party titles I already own on the Switch

Switch 2 (which I will get day 1 hopefully) - will be perma docked.

I'll keep it, it's just going into retirement. I don't like to sell my old systems any longer as in the long run I've always regretted it. I wish I still had my NES and SNES and N64 and Game Boy and all of that.

Keep it to use as a controller for my kids.

Probably sit it on my PC desk and hook it into my PC monitor. It will be an improvement by virtue of not being hooked up to my tv. Games that won't have any Switch 2 improvements will ironically look better playing that way compared to playing on a Switch 2 connected to my tv, though that depends on how much their performance currently struggles compared to how much Switch 2 natively improves both framerate and resolution scaling.

Usually I keep my old systems.
But the OLED Switch has a better display in many aspects... And my entire Switch 1.0 library is not backwards compatible.

So not sure what I will do yet, wait and see.

Going into retirement in it's original box after I make the data transfer to the Switch 2.

But it was a great 8 years with it !
