That’s not how it works. If account A is tied to console A, and you bought a game using account A, you can play the game any time you want on any account on console A and secondary consoles consoles with account A. There is no restriction to playing the game at the same time So account B on console A and account A on console B can play the same game at the same time. No persistent Internet connection is necessary.

This isn't correct. Console B will still require an internet connection to let Account A play games for which Console A is the primary system.

But for what it's worth, the fine print has already confirmed that an opt-out exist, so the old system will remain as well.

Wrong again. You don't need a persistent connection, you only need a connection to check when you load up the game, and both players can play the same game at the same time.

The new system removes the capability of both players playing at the same time.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

So much so for the rumored Kirby and Fire Emblem games ...

But actually there were sections of it I liked, the Rhythm announcement and the ending was a decent ender although not to my taste.

Definitely feels like they've kept the big ammunitions for next week.
Although Metroid Prime 4 showcased was pretty big all things considered but it kinda felt ... Muted in a sense ?
Like shouldn't this have been the opener or last trailer ?

The Metroid Prime 4 trailer did seem off. It felt like they were holding back. At least I hope they were holding back, because I didn’t see a lot that wowed me. If I didn’t trust the pedigree of the Metroid franchise and of Retro, I would be a little worried.

Yup, that's what I felt as well. Like it's odd how appart from the bits of music and environmental wise, the rest felt like something going through the motions.

Honestly, it's quite clear that the stuff shown in both trailers is super early into the going so I'm not worried about the latter parts unless puzzle design isn't different from what was shown to the beginning parts.

Positive point though, this is definitely a Prime game if you were somehow worried about that first action linear packed trailer ...

Also that last line about her going through a Time and Space .... Mmmmh feels like we might get Space/Time Travel mechanics here which might be linked with that second suit of hers

Switch Friend Code : 3905-6122-2909

Considering Switch 1 is in its 9th year and probably like 2-3 months away from replacement, this was quite a decent showing.

It was nice to get a better look at Prime 4, Eternal Life of Goldman looks brilliant with its hand-drawn art and springy gameplay, and while they're not for me, it was cool to see Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi Life returning, for those that remember them fondly.

The fact the latter are both slated for 2026 also shows Nintendo intend to keep Switch 1 owners supported post-replacement, which is nice as not everyone will be willing or able to upgrade right away.

Not bad for a Switch focused Direct this late into its lifecycle.

I liked the Eternal Life of Goldman, The Marvel game, and Witchbrook.

The PS IPs being announced for release on Switch by Namco Bandai was a shocker.

Not sure what you mean with "small group". Tomodachi Life is a legit million seller. These types of games are very popular with casual gamers especially.

In comparison to other IPs that would often end a Direct I mean (i.e. Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, etc)

Tomodachi Life was the 10th best selling game on the 3DS.  It's not a minor release.

That's pretty great for those who won't invest in the successor right away but ...

Mmm appart from Metroid Prime 4, what other 1st party titles are slated for 2025 ? None so far I believe.

Unless we get news next week of games during the Switch 2 presentation also having a Switch Edition ...

wow a really good direct!! especially considering it was the last Switch-focused ^ ^

lol that's like the fourth Nintendo Direct I've heard ppl call "the last Switch-focused [direct]." Wouldn't surprise me if we get a few more Switch-focused Directs, similar to how they handled 3DS at its ending phase.

well let's call it the last pre-Switch 2 then :P

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Besides Metroid Prime 4, I think Pokémon Legends Z-A is the other first party title, if you consider Game Freak being a first party developer.

As siebensus says, there's Pokémon Legends Z-A as well, and possibly also Pokémon Champions, plus it's likely there's still minor 1st party stuff still to be announced for this year like the rumoured Kirby Planet Robobot remake.

We really can't expect too much first party content for the Switch 1 now that they need to support Switch 2; for the kind of players who are not upgrading right away, the stuff announced should be fine.
