The PC version is apparently run two types of DRM simultaneously causing the CPU to take a massive hit, lol. I guess they're really afraid of piracy.

The game looks quite meh visually IMO, Capcom just can't optimize or isn't even bothering to try (getting the game to release before the fiscal year end probably is a far higher priority).

So many of the Youtube comments are shitting on the game for mediocre visuals and bad performance, lol.

Capcom needs a much better engine badly, this thing was not designed for anything but narrow scope Resident Evil games. Dragon's Dogma II was hilarious too in that it wasted a ton of CPU overhead on NPCs that weren't even on screen that people realized if you started killing NPCs, the game's frame rate would go up, lol.

The double DRM is just every publisher suit thinking that. Notice how indie devs barely give a shit, but the big corpos do, despite their games selling well?.

Capcom's engine is fine, but it was not created in mind for open world games that feature a lot of NPC's and other entitles. I suggested before that they should simply fork the engine in two; one for smaller worlds like Resident Evil, and the other for larger more open ended words. This way they will not have to completely modify the engine only for open worlds, and then possibly run into issues later on for smaller ones (because problems can come back to bite you in the ass when it comes to game engines, like with Bethesda as a primary example).

That being said, I would rather they simply fork their engine than to pull a CDPR and just drop it and going for UE5, where we'll only really see more and more stuttering and jank loading times. I'm more for pubs/devs making their own engines today more than ever (That and I don't want Epic actually having a monopoly they think they deserve, but don't).

UE5 Might be a disaster on console but it does well on PC and PS5 PRO so high hopes for it on 10th gen but I've seen with the last chapter of Blavk Myth Wukong that it'd be perfect for a Monster Hunter game even now, lots of artificating while speeding around a big map with lots going on but the stability of streaming and the draw distance on base PS5 was actually mindblowing and way more stable than MH Wilds even if it is still janky. They just need to go back to the segmented open world no matter which engine they choose and ho back to having a central hub for the story stuff and have a limited ammount of other players on the map to keep things less intensive. No one was complaining about that design, it was actually a corner stone of the series formula and nice to have that down time.

It's really not doing so well on either system tbh, especially with the tech on offer.

I'll find some time later during the day to link you the video that was posted on the main PC thread about UE5's woes, but UE5 is not perfect and not the end all to be all that some seem to think it is.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

6 hours in and I'm still mainly mashing buttons and have no clue what the actual fuck I should be doing. I mean the game is kinda fun. But I get bombarded with functionalities and info and my silly mind just can't comprehend it. I guess there is a steep learning curve if you haven't played any MH game before, lol. Anyway, at least it runs fine on PS5 Amateur and it didn't crash a single time on me yet. But I don't know if I will keep playing. The game feels outright exhausting to me.

Go for the Insect glaive, it has a medium level learning curve and if you go for fast insects it's a speedy weapon. Mix between gun and easily the most mobile weapon, changes the game so much from any other weapon it feels like a different game but you can get the main idea of the weapon from a 15 minute YouTube video. It's so fun, I wouldn't play Monster Hunter if I had to play with other weapons.

Funny that you say that, because I am actually using the Insect Glaive. The game recommended it after I answered some questions. So here I am, jumping around like a mad man and waiting for those colors in Slot 1, 2 and 3 to get filled up for my super move. At least I figured that out. Sometimes I land on top of a monster, which looks cool as hell. But I don't know when and how that happens, lol. It just happens by accident, like a lot of things when I fight monsters. =D

I am also quite overwhelmed by the options for gear and stuff. Plus meals and whatnot. I end up doing something, but I have no idea if I actually have a benefit from it.

No, no. Those three colours are guaranteed by shooting the monsters different parts with your Insect. Hit the claws or head for red which boosts attack. Hit the wings or feet for white which is agility and hit the armour for yellow which is armour. All three together will open up your moveset and allow you to combo. There are really simple combos you can pull off but string them together and do well and you should be up in the air wailing on the monster for a few seconds or in flying monsters cases longer and then you can combo to crash down in varying ways depending on the situation for massive damage.

Thanks for the tips, but how the hell am I supposed to shoot the monsters parts? The things are moving around all the time and my stupid bug flies there in slow motion, only to freeze in mid-air afterwards. xD

Yeah, you need to change up to fast insects, not sure where those are located in Wilds or how early they get to be speedy enough for fast moving monsters, you should still be able to get buffs though, just get closer. You can also change their element to and wether you want them blunt or to sever parts cause they should be out attacking and only back in your glaive to buff up again. Keep on grinding until you can get the speediest bugs possible, I see Wilds has a compressed campaign and unlocks so it shouldn't be much more than a few hours away to get insta buffs unless they changed it up from last MH games and trust me, it becomes second nature after a while and you'll end up getting the three buffs with9ut issue even on monsters you don't know, it just becomes intuitive and you pick up easily where the corresponding buffs are located, even if the don't have visual tells. Like red is usually the head or claws, yellow is usually the back and white is the feet or wings.
