But it's not a platformer, if it was, no issues but an action game like that shouldn't have precise platforming if failing said precise platforming, not only allows you to fall to death but also respawns all enemies and even collectables up until that point. Make your platforming good before adding platforming. |
Platforming is fine. Stellar Blade is just not automatic like a lot of modern games. Take Assassin's Creed II vs. a modern one. Back then, success and failure were entirely in your hands. Modern ones make the climbing almost automatic, taking player agency away, and when it fails, it's more the game's fault. A lot of modern games make things more automatic. This is similar to playing Ninja Gaiden II vs. Ninja Gaiden 3/Razors Edge. Wall running and platforming are more automated in 3. Stellar Blade puts it all in player control. So failing is really on you. Said it before but the demo is the tutorial area before the game opens up. The platforming became second nature the more I played and honestly didn't take very long at all to adjust. I'm sick of games taking player agency away so I quite enjoyed the platforming as I was in full control and once it works it feels great.
