Final Fantasy 7.

Klonoa.

Spyro The Dragon.

Crash Bandicoot.

Medievil.

Resident Evil games.

Abe's Odyssey.
Dragon Quest 7.
Wild Arms Code F
Star Ocean 2.
And more.
Do you think any others are better or do you think the originals are better on some if not all of these and why?

Final Fantasy VII Remake is amazing, so is Spyro and the REmakes.

I would say Crash Bandicoot too, if it weren't for the awful loading times.

I rarely play remakes.

RE1 was a groundbreaking experience, but I consider the GameCube Remake the best horror game and remake of all time. Just... perfect!

RE2 Remake was good, but I much preferred the style and vibes of the original.

RE3 Remake was a real disappointment from what I've seen. Nemesis and Tyrant in remakes aren't scary at all. Granted I'm old now and not as easy to scare. Man... I miss being a kid...

The Twin Snakes sucked balls... a colossal disappointment. Words wouldn't describe my sheer excitement when I saw the first screenshots on GamePro.

Loved Final Fantasy 7 "Remake" and Rebirth but I'm not sure they qualify as Remakes, and they just don't quite convey the same feel of the original.

I really enjoyed completing Oddworld New n Tasty but you can't beat that pre-rendered background presentation. I only played the demo of the original though.

I don't care if it's heresy, I prefer Remake and Rebirth over the original FF7. And in the likely chance Part 3 is similar in quality to Rebirth, that will stand. Admittedly, those are the most ambitious remake which is a big reimagining over a trilogy of games.
I never played the original Spyro games, but Reignited is great and there's almost no way I could picture myself preferring the PS1 versions.
PS1 games often have notable to crazy load times. Sure PS1's controller has aged better than N64, but N64 has aged far better in the load time department. That was a clear advantage.

I don't know If I would even count Remake and Rebirth the same game as FF7. The story beats aren't even the same. But back to the original topic my answer would be Medievil. I lent my friends PS just to play it.

I like them in their original (true) state. I don't even acknowledge remakes. They do not exist for me.

I enjoyed the Crash and Spyro remakes a lot, they're certainly more convenient than firing up my old PS1.

For games of this era I'm not opposed to remakes as early 3D can be hard to go back to today. I am very much looking forward to the upcoming Croc remake; along with the aforementioned titles, it was a big part of my childhood.

I like playing Twisted Metal 2 with 20 save slots available. That alone makes it better than the original game.

Yes, they are. The graphical jump is massive in these cases and there also tends to be some quality of life improvements as well. Just overall a more polished experience.
There are differing opinions about the changes in FF7, but as an OG fan I don't mind them. Everything is just bigger, better and deeper. I absolutely love it, the characters really came to life with the modern presentation.

Gen 5 games in general have aged horribly. If there is a remake/remaster available, there is no reason to go back to the ugly graphics and the clunky controls.
