I wonder what the legs will be like on the switch evergreens going into the switch 2. I feel like a lot of these games will continue selling decently throughout the switch 2s life, with them all being available day 1 on switch 2 digitally, something that we have never really had on a Nintendo successor in the past.

They'd probably do better with the return of Nintendo Selects. As evergreen as many of the games are, I don't think full price for most of them for another generation is the best idea from a business perspective.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 40 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

The interesting thing about TOTK is that in Japan it sold around as much as BOTW, if the ratio was the same outside Japan for TOTK it would have sold over 30 million already.

I wonder if price had much to do with it. In Japan, the price was roughly the same as Breath of the Wild, but outside of Japan it cost ~10USD more. Could it be that the price cost them ~10 million sales?

I think it's just the fact that Japan is currently the strongest region for Switch 1.

Outside of the holiday season, America and Europe are noticeably behind Japan, which absolutely carries Switch 1 sales from Jan-Oct. and Switch 1 is by far the #1 platform over there. Whereas America and Europe have mostly moved on/waiting for Switch 2, Japan is still perfectly content and eager for more Switch 1 content because that's the standard over there.

What do you mean?

The Atlanic Ocean separates the European and African continents (Noth- and South Atlantic) from the American contintent (North-, Middle- and South America) with a maximum width of 6,400 km/3,977 mi (between Florida and Senegal). The English Channel is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean that separates Southern England from northern France. It varies in width from 240 km/149 mi at its widest to 34 km/21 mi at its narrowest in the Strait of Dover.

Two years ago the whole Atlantic Ocean stood between the Switch and PS2 to catch up, now only the English Channel remains in distance. Final spurt!

Very poetic. But in fact the Crimson Reaper will start knocking on PS2s door this summer!

Switch's attach rate is now just over 9 games per console, not including digital-only releases.

1359.8m software by 150.86m hardware = 9.01

One of the highest of any gaming system! Curious if Nintendo includes digital only in this figure? I feel like I remember reading somewhere that it is excluded since it would inflate software numbers.

If I remember correctly, Nintendo's software figures only include games for which a physical version is available.

Digital purchases of these games are included, but not download-only titles.

Does this mean that the Switch's SW Total is already on a level with PS2 (1,51 Billion)?!

Including download-only games, it has possibly passed that, yeah. There are a lot of Switch games without a physical version.

Do they even count digital software releases first that have eventually received a physical or do they not ?
