It saves labor and time. When done correctly, it gets a thumbs up from me.
I will say Spider-Man 3 (PS6) needs an overhauled map. I don't want a pretty similar map for the fourth game in a row. I'm aware it's based on real locations, so there will be a lot of similarities. I just want it to feel fresher, and I think Spider-Man 3 should add The Bronx and maybe even Staten Island to the currently 3 existing boroughs in Spider-Man 2.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 40 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

They do central park well, I would hope for them to add country aide in, like up state Newyork. The could so the Tri state area and just add in some small towns and forests outside of the city areas. Wouldn't take much, they could use the existing SM2 map and just expand on it.

Old games used a trick where it was a "shadow realm" or something, which could be annoying.

More recently, we had Dragon Age 2, which I thought was a really good game--except that it had no chance because people hated the constant reusing of the environments so much. I found that to be annoying and tiresome but didn't hold it against the good aspects.

Overall, I don't consider it to be as big a deal as some, though it depends. If the developer leaves the exact same enemies using the exact same spawn data, then we have a problem.

Imagine if COD released with the same maps every release. Yeah, that's the problem, doesn't matter if it's single player or not.

I generally have no problem with asset reuse. I think I might take issue, if it felt like I was literally playing the same game. God of War Ragnarok is no where near that for me. A lot of those areas are greatly expanded or changed. I haven't really played a game that went too far for me.

I wouldn't even mind more asset reuse if it meant games could come out sooner.

I'm not particularly bothered by map reuse. You can make the game feel very different with different mechanics and make a different story.

I also hate this trend of taking 3d models of objects and having an Extras menu for them or in Asreobots case, little gacha items. They've been doing it for years and it serves little purpose, it's there cause it's easy to do. I see no need to look at figurines of the games characters on REmake 2.

It's cute for people to look at; and optional for people who don't want to engage in it.

I personally have no interest in it, but I can understand someone else might.

Its okay as long as there's more new content/assets than re-used ones.

I haven't been seen enough of it to be bothered so far, so my current stance is that we need more of (tasteful) asset reuse to ease game development. Creating games takes way too long and costs way too much. I seriously doubt whether we need every studio to recreate similar realistic-style assets for their games.

Maps are a trickier thing though. The chances are that it'll easily become annoying, but I love tasteful map reuse. Revisiting previously visited locations is something I've always enjoyed, but I can definitely see how it could become annoying.
