Ocarina of Time. And even when I was a lot older, also Mario Galaxy. It looked fantastic for that time and was just extremely fun to play.

Persona 4 or Zelda BOTW

OOT. If you got a chance to play it when it first came out, you'd know. Never has a game swept me into it more thoroughly than that game did. It was truly a once-in-a-life-time experience.

I don't mind replaying some of my favorite games of all time again like various Zelda games and Chrono Trigger. So I'll go with Bioshock or Resident Evil 7 on the PSVR.

Chrono Trigger. It do be my goat.

It's a shame, I never played this on release, only the Steam re-release. Absolutely loved it. What a gem. They simply don't make games as good as that anymore.

Actually, I'm going to change my answer to Metal Gear Solid 2. Playing through it now is a paint by nimbers affair but mainly cause I would be blown away by the patriots reasoning and how it reflects so well what's happening today. Having played it so many time when it was still scifi It looses some impact, I can't imagine how mind blown I would be after playing through the GW section in current year for the first time. Kojima is a prophet and I'm just waiting for the Death Steanding to occur.

I can definitely relate. Played it on release, I ended up buying my own N64 and OOT as I was sharing with my brother.

No game at the time gave you that 3D openworld feeling like Zelda did. Was definitely a historical gaming event.

Pokemon silver. It was the first game I ever played.

I'd be tempted to go for some Metal Gear Solid game, probably the second one... but the thing is, they're blast to even replay, so there's little point in 'replaying for the first time' for me.

Skyrim comes to mind really quickly. I'm not sure it's the best pick, but that sense of exploration... It's just not the same after getting familiar with the game, even if it's still fun. Oblivion is another contender, and probably even better for its time, but it hasn't aged too well, unlike Skyrim.

Final Fantasy X is also another great choice, at least for me personally. It just had that special something. It's still awesome, but once you know the story, you lose much of that discovery as well.

It's less than a year since I first played and completed Horizon: Zero Dawn, and the lore for that game is pretty great in my opinion. In fact, I think it's special enough so that it would be really fun to 'play for the first time' again, even if it's not necessarily a top contender.

I also want to mention Moirai. It's... well, was, a small game you could complete in like 15 minutes. The game was nothing special, but it had that neat twist that made it worth playing, but once you knew the twist, you were done with the game, period.

I guess that's all that comes to mind now. It's possible I'm missing some great contender, but it's not like this is serious business, so whatever.

Super Mario Galaxy and Breath of the Wild both spring to mind. There really was something magical about the first time playing those ones.

I also think the Phoenix Wright trilogy was special on the first play through, but I'll say that, while I enjoyed them still later, my enjoyment of them dipped on later playthroughs. I feel like I would love that one just as much as I did the first time if I played them for the first time today.

Witcher 3 was raised as a potential, but I agree, it's one of those games that might even be more fun on subsequent playthroughs. This is also how I feel about RPGs in general, and why I tend to replay my favourites quite often, and occasionally those that aren't even close to my list of favourites. And it's not just nostalgia either, there are some SNES and PSX era games I played for the first time recently, and quite enjoyed - stuff like the Romancing Saga games (although, they were remastered). Chrono Trigger (original version), Earthbound, Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, Tactics, 8, and X, Xenogears, Suikoden, and others, I tend to enjoy just as much as when I did the first time played them - sometimes more, because the first time I played them was an inferior port or import (sometimes in Japanese).
