It's the Ps3 I hate the design language that was popular at the time of its release. The Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 are for me the ugliest generation of consoles ever.

Aside from Nintendo. Neo Geo. SEGA and Original PC Engine. There were some ugly ass consoles in the early 90s.

No the controllers are not upside down. That is how they designed them. So even they are shit.

Model 2 Genesis is awesome but the 32X is a tumor.

The 32 bit looks decent but good lord the jaguar hasn't aged well, I remember thinking that was cool looking.

The 360 Elite though and the PS3 slim (horizontal) looked pretty good, right? Dam, I lived the look of the Elite, perhaps the best looking console ever imo.

My 360 is the slim but matt black not glossy. I love how it looks. One of the better looking systems IMO. That and the black docked Wii still look great.

I agree about the wii. It's currently hiding behind my TV but only because lack of space, I'd love to see that more than the PS5.

It mever looked good and Atari sold the molds and Dentist equipment was made. So in the 90s and 2000s you could go into a Dentist office and see a white Jaguar on the wall.

😀

PS4 was a ugly too in my view; not as bad as PS5 or PS3 Super Slim, the materials were attractive at least, but the way the whole thing was on a slanted angle just made it look wonky and awkward to me. Straighten it out and it'd be fine.

Then it would look like a VCR like Xbox One the console people mocked the most that gen for its appearance. PS4 looked fine. Kinda looks like a big Wii when vertical.

The OG Xbone just looked boring rather than actively bad, PS4 actually looked worse to me due to the weird slanted design. Not a good gen for console designs, Wii U looked merely decent too; Xbox One S and X looked decent at least.

(poll prolly should've asked which system was the ugliest lol. I feel many responses didn't read "best looking" and voting the worst...) I'm of the unpopular belief that PS5 is the best looking PlayStation system! All the others look very same-y. PS5 takes a radically different appearence, and I love it for that!

Beyond looking overdesigned, the PS5 is also just inconvenient. The fact it requires an additional stand just to set it up horizontally is absurd.
Plus the disc drive looks like a tumor on it.

I really think the disc drive bulge was purposely done to push digital sales. I also think it didn't work out as planned because of inflation. I think SNY initially wanted consumers to buy the digital edition, but because of inflation that would've meant taking a much bigger loss on hardware. I think SNY purposely marketed the disc edition much more so for this reason, and they also certainly didn't go out of their way to make sure there were plenty of digital edition SKU's available over the first 2-3 years.

They totally could've made some relatively minor changes to the body to incorporate the disc drive so it didn't look like a bulge or afterthought, but I think that's exactly what they were aiming for when designing it.

The OG model and it's two way stand was a smart move and quite consumer friendly for SNY. That's not really normal for them. Not having a stand with the Pro, especially at it's price, is the complete opposite and really anti consumer though.

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

What are you talking about? The PS5 is a cool looking console. Or do most people prefer just a block with no curvature at all? Weird.
I mean it does look better in the vertical position, which it is clearly meant to be in.
