I got back into Synthriders for a bit after the 90fps and progression system update. It looks better than ever and fun to play all the songs again. The experience levels are still unsurpassed.



And playing GT7 next to it.

I bought Crimson Desert as my kid asked for it, he started it last night. I don't know if I can get myself to start a 200 hour rpg. It looks pretty but also overwhelming. 

Second this.^ Expedition 33 is one of gaming’s greatest achievements. Not sure if it’s anything necessarily revolutionary, but it is no doubt one of the most fun games I have ever played. And I speak as a Nintendo gamer.

Replaying Civ 7 after a year

The game still not good. The IU is atrociously bad and the mechanics still well behind Civ 6

The was they divided eras with new civilizations for each era is aboherent, but aside of that it really feels like 3 entirely different rounds with your alliances to city states pretty much resetting every era 

The game really wants you to do a step by step list of objectives to win each era. In the end it's simple to win by scoring

Map design is atrocious, taking an infinite amount of time to discover civilizations placed in other continents due to delayed navigation technology trees 


But one thing is good, combat feels better than in Civ 6. Sleeker, quicker and less tedious


This game need at least two major expansions and a total rework on how the eras are organized to be good, and even then, I don't think it will be nearly as good as Civ 6

Finally getting into Doom TDA, on chapter 5 (I think). It’s good, really scratches that pewpew itch I had. It’s the most 7/10 game I’ve played and I say that as a compliment.

I have to choose a new game. Baldurs gate 3 is too demanding. My options are...

KCD 2
Shinobi Art of Vengence
Nine Sols
Replay of RDR 1
Replay of The Witcher 3

I'm eyeing KCD2 but knowing the first game, it might be too much of a task. These are the top picks but there are a few others too and I'm paralysed by choice.

Out of that list I’d say pick Resident Evil Requiem. Sounds like you need a massive change of pace from 200+ open world games. RE:R is like 25-30hrs. For smaller/ sub 10hr games I’d HIGHLY recommend Reanimal. Skate Story can be done in 10-15hrs and the game is chill af. 

Oh yeah, I was looking at Skate story and wondering cause it's free on PSN. I might try that. Probably not gonna do Requim until it's near half price but I understand really well, the recommendation cause that game looks incredible. 

Baldur's Gate 3 really needs a tutorial mode that explains dicerolls for those that have never played a tabletop rpg system. A lot of the terminology is counterintuitive. Armor class = chance to dodge, not damage reduction. Saving throw math is messed up by the in game displays and you really need to check the combat log. Levels 1-4 your characters are super weak and die easily. 

It's an awesome game, but understanding how DnD works is needed and the game doesn't explain any of that.
