  • The second game in the second arc of this storyline spanning a dozen games (so far)
  • The name of this arc comes from the city these two games are primarily set it.
  • The subtitle of this game could also be "Paths to Bright Blue"

Trails to Azure then I assume

#49 - You can't use the signature moves of the series in this title, but you can use some other person's equipment instead.

  1. It's a Metroidvania kind of game where you have to go back to previous places once you found the necessary equipment to get to new places in them.
  2. While the signature move are missing, the main character is still attacking with the hair

Maybe a Shantae game... Risky's Revenge?

Day 47. Huh, I musta missed a day.

No 47. Omega Wipout Collection PSVR patch

On a random march day in 2018, Xdev took already pretty great game racer and turned it into something utterly mindblowing for VR users, a game that fulfilled on the stereotypical 80's/90's idea of VR and brought us inside a futuristic insanely fast racer in the cockpit of the vehicals with no restrictions or shortcomings. Buttery smooth and all the base games content. This is the game I most get to urge to brush off the old PSVR headset for and it never disappoints. So much fun. Incredibly immersive.

That's correct.

We're midway through November and I will drop my entire list like I did last year. Instead of averaging the 2 releases of Smash 4, I took where I'd rank the Wii U version and kept it extremely high.

Wrong thread though, post it in the Official thread.

Ok. Screwed it up. Mods can delete it at their convenience.

Change YoY: NEW!   My Rating: 9.0 / 10

The first entirely new game on my list, and the first The Legend of Heroes title as well (there'll be plenty more to come). These days I'm playing about one new game in the series every year, and almost every time that game makes it onto my top 50 at the end of that year. This year the honor goes to Trails to Azure, the second and last part of the Crossbell Arc, which is the second of four parts of the Trails storyline that now spans a dozen games, with more yet to come. Azure was a notable improvement upon its predecessor, which very much felt like a game where everything was about setting up story beats that would pay off in the future, and that's exactly what they did in Trails to Azure.

Of course, while Trails to Azure is the end of the aforementioned Crossbell Arc, it's also only the fifth game in the larger overarching storyline, meaning that at the same time it's setting up and building off from games that came before and after. Regardless, it serves as an excellent conclusion to its own self-contained story, and does a great job at making the characters far more well-defined and captivating, who in the first game had felt distinctly less interesting than the main casts of the other sub-series. Still, there's no question that in order to get the most out of these games you kind of need to play the earlier titles first, as well as play the ones that came after in order to see the payoff to things that were set up here.

The Trails series is starting to become one of the most extensive and expansive continuous storylines ever told in any form of media, as by this point anyone who might want to experience it from beginning to end would have to spend in excess of 500 hours just to get up to speed with what's happened thus far, and we're still not at the end of the whole thing. The second Trails in the Sky game alone has a script that is longer than the entire Lord of the Rings-trilogy, and it's not even close to the longest game in the series. To call this a daunting series to dive into at this point would be putting it lightly. Anyway, I think it's great, but I also got into it back when there was only one game out.

Was planning not to make my hints to hard this year but it seems I might have failed so far. Gonna add some big hints now.

50) Pyrite Town

Shadow is not a type in this series but it is an important mechanic in this game

The legendary "monster" on the cover is also a shadow version of it's usual self

49) You can power-up your power-ups in this old school racer

A fully powered speed boost will make you teleport forward on the track through a worm hole which as expected is completly busted

You can also build your own car and driver out of a famous type of blocks

48) This licensed property is more known for its fighting games, but this one is a turn-based card game

You can spend your turn powering up

Or on various beam attacks, including an extremely iconic one

47) Now this is how you control a platformer

All you need is two buttons and a sound sensor

Collect banans by the tree-load

46) Everybody knows you're only wanted as long as there are signs proclaiming it

Spin to win

The protagonist of this game was apparently considered OP in MultiVersus at launch

#47 - Looks a lot like Metroid

  1. While it later got ported to consoles, it came out on home computers first
  2. It's very famous for it's soundtrack by Chris Hülsbeck, which later even had a CD release

Turrican?

Yep, that's the one

Might as well get to the next set of clues.

#45

  • The game that introduced the main villain's children into the series, though in later games this has been retconned and these days they are just the villain's minions.

#44

  • Some really brittle weapons in this one

#43

  • The Core and the Arm

#42

  • Even more rats

#41

  • A rhythm game built around the music of one of the few video game series that could support an entire game with just its music

#47 - Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (GC)

Well, what can I say? This is one of the Sonic games with the best plot I ever played. I found it a big upgrade over Sonic Adventure 1. The only reason it's not listed higher it's because I'm not a huge fan of the Rouge/Knuckles levels. But other than that, this game is a masterpiece for any Sonic fan, like myself.
