Couch, my computer is really no different than a console. I use a xbox controller.
LegitHyperbole said: Up to date hardware and a less casual user base. Maroity Switch owners are by far the most casual group in gaming. The Nintedo hardcore are pretty small comparatively to hardcore gamers on PS and even Xbox. This is why comparisons or saying Nintendo is dominating, don't make sense. |
The whole "casual" thing is bullshit and those people migrated to phones over a decade ago. They don't buy consoles and I'm sorry this whole hardcore vs casual thing is silly bullshit online discourse should be left in the 7th generation. Only people who are "hardcore" are the ones who play flight sims with full setups. Who owns and maintains arcade PCBs. Can 1CC shmups on original hardware. Build/mod consoles and fight sticks. Turn their TVs sideways for tate mode. Re-cap their hardware with new transistors. That is the enthusiast market and the real hardcore. I don't do any of that. Only reason I don't turn my CRT into Tate mode is because it weighs a metric ton but the rest is not in me, aside from modding one fight stick with Sanwa buttons 8 years ago. But there are groups of people who are. Buying an Xbox or PS5 does not make you"hardcore"
As for the topic. Nothing. Nintendo doesn't need to. They get enough on Switch and then get a lot of cooler AA and indies games. Not to mention the shit fuck ton of shmups the thing has from new to ports of Genesis/Saturn/Dreamcast and more. Switch recently got Cosmic Fantasy 1-2. Great RPGs on PCE that never made it west until now. Switch does not need to be a 3rd wheel. Xbox is struggling as is. Switch offers a more unique library and experience. It's perfect as is in that regard. Switch 2 just needs to continue that tradition. Now if you excuse me I'm going to use the flip grip to put my Switch in tate mode and play some Batsugun.
The bare minimum would be hardware similar to the PS5/Series X.
Some of the largest third party games, like GTA5 and Elden Ring aren't on the Switch, while others like Witcher 3 are far from the definitive experience. Not to mention their online infrastructure is a few generations behind compared to PlayStation Plus and Xbox GamePass.
Better system specs
The problem today with Switch is the system is just too underpowered to get huge third party AAA support. Developers needs to make huge compromises to release their games, which involves big workforce and sometimes delaying development and releasing. Most companies think it's better to just delay the Switch version to not impact PS5/Xbox/PC versions release date, this also impacts negatively third party sales because some people prefer the buy and play the game as soon as possible

Everyone I know in real life with one is a casual, my nieces, cousins, aunt and uncles and I have two and I have one and I use it casually. It's the DS audience/wii audience, majority just casual. There's nothing wrong with it. Why is it a bad thing? You don't actually think there is 150 million hardcore gamers out there do you?
PS/xbox/PC have casuals too it's just that Nintendo draws more casuals in than the rest, they make their hardware to target those people. It's literally the year one ad campaign.

Doesn't need to be that good since engines are scalable more than ever and consoles are basically PCs. The biggest thing would be dealing with AMD and that'd make things easier to grab ports but a console somewhere in the middle between ps4 and ps5 would be ideal all that's needed. Like, if they got the PS4 PRO with extra features like DLSS if they can get it working in the switch 2 that'd be fine to get some good ports.
Problem is, the whole audience is on switch now and the smaller audience the switch 2 will have won't make it worth it and by the time it is worth it, 10th gen will be here and they won't be able to port again. Nintendo need better timing as well as the hardware.
Anyway, silly topic. They don't need AAA ports. They have their space with casuals and the Nintendo hardcore. They're all good.
It would take Nintendo releasing a system akin to whatever Sony is releasing, then spending hours and big dollars snuggling up to the big players in the industry. In other words: it ain't gon' happen. lol

This is total nonsense.
Depends on what third parties youre talking about. Indies are doing incredible on the Switch.
