Great thread, Legit...and I see it originated back in September.

True story guys, and this is NOT anecdotal...no matter how much you think my prior posts are just BS :)

Back in the 90s, one of my friends showed up at my room with a SNES console and the game "Super Conflict"

At the time, I thought the game, an RTS one as I recall, was cool, but nothing special.

However, another friend of mine (who I shall call 'Pete') who was also in my room, was completely blown away by it.

So, on that same day, Pete went to the local mall and bought a SNES and SC together at "Electronics Boutique" (any of you remember that store?)

and played the game all day long at the apartment he shared with his GF.

Hours later, his GF told him that "we cannot afford this on our credit card, you have to return them both to EB"

The next day, Pete returned both items for a refund.

Cheers. I have a few threads I wish would resurface that are extremely interesting to me but this is one of the lesser ones. I might bump a few during the Xmas period.

Poor Pete, should have stuck to his gut and dumped the GF instead of the SNES.

LOL. He ended up marrying her the next year (I was the best man) and they stayed married for 25 years, divorcing a few years ago.

Yep, I bet the divorce was set in motion the day she prevented that man from having his SNES. He shoulda seen that big red flag.

Systems I bought because of one game:

SNES: A Link to the Past
PS1: Final Fantasy VII
PS3: Valkyria Chronicles
369: Virtua Fighter 5

Originally bought my PSP for Darkstalkers Chronicle and nothing else (but eventually other games).

Nowadays when I buy a new system, (assuming no b/c) - I wait until there's like 4-5 games I want.

typically this is how I get a nintendo system..... there is that 1 game, that sells me on it, and I get that and the system.

But you pick up a few more, right?

Even with the Wii U's sparse library, it had 3 must-play games for me.

-Super Mario 3D World

-Mario Kart 8

-Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

But you'd best believe even when I got a Wii U in 2014, I got some other games like New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U plus some others like Lego Batman 2 and Assassin's Creed III.

1-3 games are usually enough to sell me on a console, but I still get more games.

I bought the Game Boy Color just for Pokemon Silver and a Vita just for Persona 4 Golden.

SteamMyAnimeList and Twitter - PSN: Gustavo_Valim - Switch FC: 6390-8693-0129 (=^・ω・^=)

Very interesting poll results. I like it. I knew I wasn't the only one.

I guess Metal Gear Solid 4 expedited me getting a PS3, but I was going to get one eventually anyway. Other than that, I haven't, and I probably wouldn't. Technically I probably would, if just the perfect game was released, but I don't think one ever will.
