Forums - Gaming Discussion - Telltale VS Supermassive VS Quantic Dream

The best one is

Telltale Games 7 36.84%

Supermassive Games 4 21.05%

Quantic Dream 8 42.11%

Total:19

Point-and-click, exploration, QTEs, choices, focus on story... This is the kind of Adventure games I'm talking about. I mentioned those three companies because their games are quite similar when it comes to gameplay (And I'm curious to see which of them people like more).

Games like The Last of Us have way more action. And I consider Disco Elysium an RPG.

  • For Quantic Dream I liked Fahrenheit and Detroit, but I've never played Heavy rain and found Two Souls to be meh. We've also heard they are having huge behind the scenes issues on their upcoming Star Wars game.
  • Supermassive did a fantastic job on Until Dawn. Dark Pictures started rough but has improved with each game in the series (though I haven't experience the latest one yet). The Quarry was generally better than Dark Pictures but still didn't come close to Until Dawn. Haven't played Casting of Frank Stone yet but I love Dead By Daylight so I'll grab it in a sale at some point.
  • Telltale started pretty well with games like BTTF The Game and of course The Walking Dead season 1, but they have been very hit and miss ever since, some good games like Tales from the Borderlands, Walking Dead Season 2, and Wolf Among Us, but also some misses like Game of Thrones, Walking Dead Michonne, and Walking Dead: A New Frontier. The company eventually went belly up from spreading themselves too thin and trying to do to many games at once while never fixing their engine issues. They were later revived and are now trying to finish Wolf Among Us 2.

Overall I'll go with Supermassive > Telltale > Quantic Dream.

When I think of Quantic Dream, I think of Omicron: The Nomad Soul, while patiently waiting for Cage to get over his "wannabe film director...polygons and emotions" phase and gets back to roots. If he ever...

That said, they are probably best in this particular adventure subgenre, not that I like said subgenre very much (being fan of classic point'n'click, as well as "Myst" likes).

I really liked Heavy Rain and The walking dead. But I was more invested and impressed by the story in the Walking Dead. But when I replayed the walking dead every choice seemed to not really matter in the same way it did on my first playthrough.
Tried a few other games from them but I do not remember them as well. Have had Detroit Become Human in my backlog for a very long time.

No experience with anything from Supermassive. Voted Telltale.

Yeeeaah about that Star Wars Eclipse game ... I really don't think it's gonna happen. Or at least not before a good while. That trailer we had more than 2 years ago now was just for recruitment purposes and also we got the whole allegations around the bad treatment of David Cage's employees, especially female workers.

That was also before the recent contraction in the industry since last year. Will they have the continued budget and support for a project that long in the making ? I don't know.

Can't wait to see the evil fat white guy in the QD Star Wars verse lol. If they are fat and white you know they're evil in a QD game.

Hank wasn't evil.

Hmm. It gets incredibly hard to define what these games are then like adding Disco Elysium, I can see why it is an adventure game based on what you said though. Thanks for the info. Quantic Dream are out of the genre so with Star Wars Eclipse since it's gonna have action based play.

Allegations hasn't stopped anyone from making a game, yet. Idk if they are effected by that either, did they over hire during covid?

I absolutely adore The Walking Dead games, Season 2 being my favorite. I also really really enjoy Telltale's Batman series too.

Yeah, it's something under spoke how actually pretty good those two seasons were. Especially the second one with Joker which you could actually change major aspects of one episode depending on your relationship with him.

Also. I just like how it had more of the Bruce Wayne drama than just the Batman stuff overall. One of my favorite take on the joker too.
