You have a ps5, no?  If RE4 is a favorite the remake is a must.  Superior in every way.  It is an absolute amazing remake.  It more than does the original justice.

And it isn't a reimagining, it has a few changes but is very faithful to the original.

I highly recommend.

Yes I do, and yeah it's definitely on my to-do list.

I'm snowed under with games these days, between Switch, PS5, my gaming laptop, and PS4 games I missed, so many games so little time!

Just got done with Stellar Blade, still working through Diablo IV with my girlfriend, currently working through Ace Combat 7, and The Plucky Squire, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, and Nikoderiko are right around the corner, plus I got games on my shelf I've had since like 2022 that I still haven't got around to haha

Let me know if you find the time to give it a go.  I was very impressed with the remake.  The Ashley sections are much better.  The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is much more refined.

Not gonna lie, I don't want Nintendo to just keeps doing Switches with better hardware. If they do, we will never have something new like the Nintendo Wii ever again.

I'm partial to the Wii version personally; it combines the superior graphics of the Gamecube version with the widescreen ratio and extra content of the PS2 version for the best of both worlds.

Perhaps true back in the day.  But now the Remake trumps all.

Ehhhh... Remake doesn't have pointer controls though. To me that's a big deal. It's the reason I still go back to Metroid Prime Trilogy even though Prime Remastered exists.

The other thing with dedicated consoles is that graphics and game development at that level has reached a point where top shelf games cost a fortune and can take like 6+ years to make.

Nintendo saw this coming way back in 2005, when Iwata spoke about the rising costs of development as games grew more technically complex. They foresaw the graphics arms race growing increasingly costly and bowed out of it, a choice that has spared them a lot of the struggles that Sony and Microsoft went through both in the 7th gen and more recently.

Going back to a traditional console now mean they too would be hammered by ever longer and costlier dev cycles.

Same here, well implemented pointer controls just feel so much better to me than analogue sticks. Games like RE4, the Prime Trilogy, Sin & Punishment 2, etc play like a dream this way.

Pointer controls + 480p GC graphics @ 30 fps

vs

Dual analog + 2160p modern graphics @ 60 fps (ps5)

To each their own. I enjoy pointed controls, but lol. Not that much.

Demon, Prime, Dead, RE4 are all great remakes.  I want RE1 and CV remakes with the new RE engine.

Edit

Going somewhat back on topic.  I suspect the switch 2 will get RE4 remake via port.  The port will be a good measuring stick on hardware capability.

The remake lacks the fun statue scene. Instead, you just walk around it on wood planks and some fire. meh. It also kind of abreaks the mood seeing yellow paint everywhere. because people are dumb and can't figure out a ladder in modern games.

That's a fair point. Still, I'd take the risk of stagnation.

Nintendo has already experimented a lot and there are still some control schemes and software ideas that can come with a hybrid platform.

I'm down with hybrids until Nintendo exits the hardware business.

No matter what rumors claim, Nintendo isn't going to just make stronger Switchs from here on out regardless. That's not how they operate, you guys act like Nintendo has never seen this level of success before? DS was far more explosive and successful than Switch during its prime and yet Nintendo still tried something new with 3DS. It's literally their motto to "surprise and delight", there is nothing surprising about a stronger Switch. Nintendo consoles are all just the tools we use to interact with their games, Wii remote made Wii Sports possible just like the joycon ir camera made Nintendo Labo possible. One was just far more successful than the other but they will never stop attempting new software ideas and simply adding the tools necessary to the console that make the new ideas possible.

3DS kept the dual screen format of DS and the 3D (a gimmick) can be turned off. 3DS really didn't reinvent the wheel of DS and Switch 2 or future hybrids can have gimmicks or useful innovations without dropping the hybrid nature.

Wii U had some similarities to Wii (namely the branding and backwards compatibility) but it was trying to reinvent the wheel in with the GamePad. And look how that turned it for Wii U, while some of the ideas evolved into Switch which is a mega hit.

Nintendo is so tricky to predict, but I think that a corporation that sees that its revenue and profits are at an all-time high (even adjusted for inflation) doesn't want to lose too much of what has made them so much money.

Wii and DS combined along with some other revenue for Nintendo during that time don't even come close to the Switch era.

Yes, you take a risk of losing revenue and profit playing it too safe, but taking big risks can often be playing with fire.
