No matter what rumors claim, Nintendo isn't going to just make stronger Switchs from here on out regardless. That's not how they operate, you guys act like Nintendo has never seen this level of success before? DS was far more explosive and successful than Switch during its prime and yet Nintendo still tried something new with 3DS. It's literally their motto to "surprise and delight", there is nothing surprising about a stronger Switch. Nintendo consoles are all just the tools we use to interact with their games, Wii remote made Wii Sports possible just like the joycon ir camera made Nintendo Labo possible. One was just far more successful than the other but they will never stop attempting new software ideas and simply adding the tools necessary to the console that make the new ideas possible.

3DS kept the dual screen format of DS and the 3D (a gimmick) can be turned off. 3DS really didn't reinvent the wheel of DS and Switch 2 or future hybrids can have gimmicks or useful innovations without dropping the hybrid nature.

Wii U had some similarities to Wii (namely the branding and backwards compatibility) but it was trying to reinvent the wheel in with the GamePad. And look how that turned it for Wii U, while some of the ideas evolved into Switch which is a mega hit.

Nintendo is so tricky to predict, but I think that a corporation that sees that its revenue and profits are at an all-time high (even adjusted for inflation) doesn't want to lose too much of what has made them so much money.

Wii and DS combined along with some other revenue for Nintendo during that time don't even come close to the Switch era.

Yes, you take a risk of losing revenue and profit playing it too safe, but taking big risks can often be playing with fire.
