Hi vgchartz family, I've recently been feeding my mind with documentaries on game development and other interesting interviews on the topic of game creation and the creation pipeline. Some of you dream of making a game, or are actual game creators or game devs.

Feel free to join my log in sharing some of the material I find online, and join in on the discussion.

Around the Network

Here are the ones I listened to yesterday:

This one was interesting. The main key point I got from the video is that, once they lost the original developers, the whole direction of the game shifted from exploration to adventure for game II, and for game 5 they had a team that had no morale and the game completely reused and rehashed old ideas, making the series lose its charm.

I'm currently in the process of watching this one, at about 45 minutes in. So far what shocked me is, while I knew Kojima had a lot of knowledge of movies, I didn't realize his father would make him stay up late regularly to watch many movies, his brain almost like a sponge for American movie culture. Also I didn't realize the Metal Gear II on MSX 2 was so advanced for its time. Will keep watching this attentively.

The history of video game development is one of great interest to me. I know quite a lot of it from the Squaresoft and Nintendo side of thing, particularly in the 1990s because developers like Tetsuya Takahashi and Soraya Saga were so open about their experiences and opinions. Soraya Saga was one of the first devs I recall taking part in forum discussions - she worked as a writer and artist on games like Final Fantasy 6 and Xenogears.

And that's not even talking about those who don't have a bit of a language barrier with EFIGS languages (like Sid Meier and Will Wright).

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I do listen to indie gamedevs and it's driven by passion. Myself been developing games at my leisure time and it's fun for me. I've been on game sites since 2006 and been inspired by the games i see.
