Hardware sales

Last week's thread: Famitsu Sales: Week 16, 2024 (Apr 15 - Apr 21) (vgchartz.com)

Considering this is 2 weeks, including Golden Week, Switch hardware looks low. Switch hardware sales were going really strong for the past month or so, even with no holiday or notable release.

For yet another twist the Switch sells worse during Golden Week than it was for the previous few weeks. I guess that retailer deal really was making a big difference. Definitely a weak GW overall but that's fine since the 2025 one should be significantly better.

Agreed, but at this point we are in unchartered territory when it comes to expectations. No console in Japan's history has been this healthy this late in its life. While the Switch technically hasn't passed the DS yet, the DS was selling less than 1k per week after 7+ years in the market, while Switch is still the highest selling console each week. Your guess is as good as mine for what happens from here.

Considering that 70% of PS5 sales are digital, Stellar Blade must have sold 150 thousand copies including digital media.

So it is basically a 50% down for both the Switch and the PS5 overall for those weeks ... Can't say it wasn't gonna happen when we had also the release of Zelda TOTK for the former. Next couple of months aren't gonna do it any favor against 2023 results haha.

PS5 has now surpassed the lifetime sales of N64 in Japan.

Xbox Series X|S 2024 has now surpassed 2023 YTD.
