Forums - Gaming - Best console from 2023

Which console had the best year in 2023?

Nintendo Switch 27 47.37%

PlayStation 5 21 36.84%

Xbox Series X/S 4 7.02%

Steam Deck 4 7.02%

Oculus Quest 3 0 0%

Oculus Quest 2 0 0%

PlayStation VR 2 0 0%

PlayStation Portal 0 0%

Lenovo Legion Go 0 0%

Atari 2600+ 1 1.75%

Total:57

Considering I don't recall ever turning on my Series X or Playstation 5 in 2023, I'll have to hand it to the Switch.
The little portable console that could.

Xbox had 8 1st party releases, not 4 (9 if including Ghostwire Tokyo xbox version).

Oh, I forgot a couple...

Ok I fixed it and updated Microsoft's achievement list of 2023

And actually there were 11 Microsoft published games:

Under Bethesda

  1. Hi-Fi Rush
  2. Mighty Doom
  3. Ghostwire: Tokyo
  4. Redfall
  5. Quake II - Enhanced Edition
  6. Starfield

    Under Xbox Game Studios
  7. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
  8. Minecraft Legends
  9. Age of Empires IV
  10. Forza Motorsport

    Under Obsidian Entertainment

  11. The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition

It gets confusing what Microsoft owns nowadays hehe

    Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 160 million (was 120 million, then 140 million, then 150 million)

    PS5: 130 million (was 124 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 54 million (was 60 million, then 57 million)

I get it. There is a lot to keep track of now under the varies publishers lol

switch is the best when it comes to exclusive games, but it loses a lot in third party games, so I vote for the ps5 for spider man, re4, ds, cod, bg3 goty, alan wake 2, ff16, sf6, which ones in my opinion It has more weight than this year's Nintendo games

If we're going by exclusives then the winner is none other than Nintendo. I didn't play a ton of games last year but most of my time was spent on PS5; although I did spend around 200 hours on SMT V on Switch which I enjoyed immensely. Xbox I enjoyed as well with Hi-fi Rush and Starfield.

If you're into exclusive software, Nintendo pretty much won it by a good slide against Sony and Microsoft which had good software but not enough (yet enough to sell a gangbusting number of consoles) and the other had 1 release that could be considered positively received while it's other releases struggled in different ways .

Of course, if you're just into the 3rd party releases, PS5 had the better releases indeed.
For gaming on the cheap, Xbox or just use the Gamepass is an option.

Still, I'd give a good point to the Oculus Quest 2/3 which arguably had a pretty great software year other than the arrival of it's template title Asgard Wrath 2. Better than Xbox, I dare say

      Switch Friend Code : 3905-6122-2909

Either Xbox because they got Actibliz or Switch for releasing a lot of good games. Sony only sold a lot of PS5 units, but released very little itself, aside from peripherals.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

This. Also played assassin's creed mirage, like a dragon gaiden and Hogwarts legacy. I know Hogwarts also came out on the switch but it looks like there were a lot of cuts that take away from the game

Just letting you know that Spider-Man 2 is a First Party game. Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Baldur's Gate 3, Alan Wake II, and Street Fighter 6 all came out on PS5, Xbox Series, PC (BG3 was PC exclusive). And Final Fantasy XVI is the only third party exclusive to PS5.

So we have 2 exclusives, that you mentioned (70+ exclusives total for 2023 on PS5) vs 120+ exclusive on Switch (including Tears of the Kingdom & Mario Wonder). I wouldn't call that a loss for Nintendo, it had 50+ more game releases on Switch than PS5.

Why does Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy XVI hold more weight than Tears of the Kingdom & Mario Wonder?
      All four were amazing games.

PC, but it wins every year. Switch was superb.
