Forums - Sales Discussion - PlayStation 5 sets all-time record for highest Europe sales in a November month.

The VGChartz estimates are out for Europe and I thought this was noteworthy enough to have it's own thread. The PS5 just posted the all-time record for European sales in a November month according to VGChartz estimates. After 15 years the DS's 2008 record has fallen, bar any adjustments of 154k or more.  Please note this is only counting systems that are tracked by VGChartz. (I.E No PS2). I do not have the numbers to say whether PS2 ever had a stronger November in European sell-through.

Here are the top 12 November European sales (every time a console sold over 1m units)

Console Year Sales
PS5 2023 1,710,324
DS 2008 1,556,491
PS4 2015 1,281,992
PS4 2016 1,257,341
DS 2007 1,203,386
PS4 2014 1,134,004
Wii 2008 1,054,118
PS4 2017 1,047,150
Switch 2021 1,034,812
Wii 2009 1,026,395
PS4 2018 1,008,523
Switch 2020 1,004,781

In terms of global sales it is the 4th best November on record.

#1 DS (2008) - 3.88m
#2 Switch (2021) - 3.73m
#3 PS4 (2015) - 3.557m
#4 PS5 (2023) - 3.545m

1.7 million in Europe. That's 600k more than what North America managed. Absolutely incredible.

Yes it's not often that sales in Europe are so drastically higher than NA, especially in the month of Black Friday. This Europe number is 33% higher than PS4's peak November, really crazy.

Just as a heads up the Rest of World (RoW) numbers have been run and PS5 ended with 3.545M for November. The worldwide breakdown article will be up tomorrow, as well as making the global figures visible on the front page charts. The bar graph includes worldwide November figures. Not quite the record, but pretty close. If the US wasn't down 20% it would have likely set a new worldwide record.

Impressive, thank you very much, @Zippy6!

I have a feeling the PS5 could be setting the new worldwide record for December then.

However, that's just fantastic global numbers for the PS5 in November. 3.545m, dayum.

What does it mean. What conclusions can we draw from these events.

Welp it follows on Sony is trying to do with their shipping predictions. You can't do a 25M year if your Holiday season isn't on the verge of breaking record figures.

To help, they did do some promotions during the month of November and the release of an updated PS5 model which leads me to think that it'll be hard for it to match that figure in December.

Europe is easily making up for worse than expected US sales. Makes sense it's gonna sell extremely well this holiday season here after there still being a big stock issue last holiday. It probably won't ever beat the global record now though unless the PS5 Pro gives enough of a boost.

Now that I doubt as Nintendo systems dominate when it comes to December, the top 10 is all Nintendo systems (DS, Wii and Switch). In the same year the DS sold 3.88m in November it almost doubled that in December (7.62 mil) while the PS4 never reached 5 mil in December. At best I could see it breaking into the top 10 if US sales improve and that would be pretty damn impressive, but no way it's reaching those 7 mil numbers.

Nintendo | PlayStation | Multiplat

December will be a month of 5 weeks the PS5 could sell as much or even more than in November
