Resident Evil 4 is a remake, and not a remaster.
Those have made it into the the shortlist before. One of them in fact was Resident Evil 2 Remake.

I feel like Diablo 4 might have made it in, if not for the huge controversy with the Season 1 patch diaster, that made negative headlines everywhere.

RE2 Remake got nominated because it was a great game in an otherwise weak year (2019). But Sekiro >>>

FF7 "Remake" also got nominated in 2020, which was a very strong year for Playstation exclusives, but a rather weak one for everything else.

A remake making the top 6 in 2023 will be much harder coz the year is stupid stacked. I guess you could argue the same against an indie like Sea of Stars.

Alan Wake 2 won the Golden Joystick from critics, it's likely on the shortlist.

I'm expecting the winner to be between BG3/AW2/TOTK/RE4 in that order of likelihood.
