If I hadn't done some research and prepared myself for the worst, I would have freaked out.

I still think VR has a place in the future, and I'm sure Nintendo will experiment with it and do incredible things. But I don't know if it'll ever truly be mainstream, precisely because it's too immersive for its own good.

Was this something that you had the first time? Did you try VR again after that? 

I remember the first time that I spent like 30 minutes in VR, I remember that feeling weird like you described for several hours I think.

But that was the only time I had that experience.

Huh I have never heard of that side effect before. Did you have any trouble using your limbs for those couple days or was it just a weird feeling?



I got lightheaded at just 3D shit on 3DS and 3D movies. Not everyone can just get used to it. Not to mention I hate wearing glasses and goggles. Kinda makes me feel claustrophobic.

As long as it’s not a central focus of the system and is a side thing like PS VR than go for it.

A standalone headset? That doesn't sound good to me.
PSVR and PSVR2 at least require PS4 and PS5. A headset having to do all the processing power itself sounds very limiting.
The only VR approach that makes sense for Nintendo is selling it separately but requiring a console.

I've seen VR hyped to the moon and back for over three decades. Sure, the tech has advanced massively over the past 30+ years, but there are just so many complications involved with it that I doubt it ever become "the future of gaming." It's still expensive, it's limited to a single user per headset (as opposed to a TV where multiple people can watch it), it's caused all sorts of physiological issues with some users, and honestly it's still just an unnecessary gimmick. It'll have its niche audience for sure, but it'll probably never be part of the default way of playing video games.

In accordance to the VGC forum rules, §8.5, I hereby exercise my right to demand to be left alone regarding the subject of the effects of the pandemic on video game sales (i.e., "COVID bump").

I really do like VR, but I don't want Nintendo to sink so much development into VR that it affects their game output on the Switch/Switch 2.

That said, Nintendo is very good at making games that show what can be done with existing technology in smart ways. So, whatever they do, I hope that they, once again, pioneer some type of control method or video game aspect that improve the overall experience in a VR game.



Sounds fake to me. VR is expensive and not portable. It doesn't fit into Nintendo's offerings in an obvious way.

If anything, Nintendo should be reducing hardware prices... Towards the end of its life, the NES was $85 with two controllers.
