Week 12 of Famitsu. It is annoying when some years Famitsu and Mediacreate have different week numbers. Will just copy the comments I had in my launch aligned charts thread:

A disappointing week all round really. PS5 is still selling great for a PlayStation home console and increasing it's lead on PS3/PS4 though it is a steep drop week on week and we'll see if Resident Evil 4 can do anything about that.

Switch is a pretty hefty drop WoW too and is 42% down on last year. If this keeps up all the way till Zelda I may have made a mistake predicting 3.7m-4m sales for it this year.

Xbox, while we don't expect much from them in Japan, is it's worst week since the beginning of September 2022.

Big drops all round, but especially for PS5. As Zippy says, it will be interesting to see what kind of impact RE4 has.

Bayonetta's debut seems really low too. I know it's a spin-off but that's lower than every Bayonetta debut outside of the X360 platinum release; even really old ports like Bayonetta on Switch did a lot better.

Poor week all round.

PS5 DE alone now has outsold Series S/X LTD.

The PS5 will probably settle at 20-30k for a while. How many more weeks the Switch gets like the previous 3 will play a big part in determining if it goes above or below 3.5m.

Yep, my bad there.  I've edited the title of the thread to show week 12 now.

I think there's a little error on the PS4's last YTD sales. Or did it really sell that bad back then?

It's accurate. For the first 44 weeks of 2022 PS4 only sold a total of 722 units, and then during the last 3 months sold 22k more.

It seems there was no PS4 stock but Sony began shipping small quantities of PS4's again to Japan starting with the holiday quarter of 2022.  That's the only explanation I can come up with.

Kind of lines up with the reports Sony was planning on axing ps4 production at the end of 2021, but then in January 2022 we got reports they were going to produce another 1 million PS4's. Sony Tackles PlayStation 5 Shortage by Making More PS4 Consoles - Bloomberg

Though was a long wait between that report and supply appearing in Japan.

C-c-c-c-c-c-c-combo Breaker. The Switch ends PS5's run at the top and extends its YTD lead.

I thought Bayonetta Origins would be an Eshop only release so I'm surprised it phsyically charted in the UK, Spain, and Jp.

Either that, or Famitsu overestimated sales and did this to rectify the numbers.

As for wanting to produce another million consoles, I think Sony doesn't want the PS4 to be beaten by the Gameboy in total sales ^^
