You're likely going to get a response from the usual suspect downplaying those latter games because there was a bundle at some point with them individually.

Right now on Amazon Japan the official PS5 GT7 bundle is at #9 in the best seller charts and the official PS5 HFW bundle is at #27.

If you bothered to do even the slightest bit of research you'd know that both of these games are being pushed in the charts by bundles. They are the only PS5 games with legs and the only ones that keep being sold through bundles. It was similar with the PS5 version of GoW Ragnarök having better legs than the PS4 version while being bundled. Not a single non bundled game had any legs whatsoever.

These games were not bundled "at some point", they are being sold through bundles right now, everywhere. Chris Dring from GamesIndustry.biz who shares UK data very often said that HFW for example gets pushed a lot by bundles even in the UK.

That means that without these bundles they wouldn't be anywhere close to where they are now.

Yeah, for real, retailers are taking full advantage of customers and forcing extra games upon them. Even up to a few weeks ago one retailer required you to trade in your PS4 in order to purchase a PS5, just so they can get those juicy resale profits.

Which retailers did this ?

How much do you think bundles represent when it comes to PS5 software sales?

The only concrete data we got was from Chris Dring, during God of War Ragnarok's launch in UK, where bundles accounted for 12% of the PS5 versions sales. When you consider digital splits, as well as the PS4 version, this is a miniscule amount for its overall sales. I can't imagine HFW or GT7 having a higher % in terms of bundled sales. Currently, the GT7 bundle is ahead of the standalone PS5's on Amazon Japan. Do you expect GT7 to be in the top 10 for software next week?

This might have been on the nose but we gotta consider that most of the bundled stocks were sent to NA as well since Sony has favored sending PS5 stocks there vs Europe, meaning your stats might be lowballing the actual results.

That may be true, but we should also consider that the UK is a major market for Sony, and it would be allocated more stock than the rest of Europe.

Xbox series passing the 400k mark this year becomes increasingly unlikely. Sad to see the momentum die out

The Geo chain of retailers. Now they require point cards and a bunch of other nonsense.

While it's great the PS5 had it's best week this year in terms of hardware, software is still an extremely weak point for it. Only 3 PS5 games in the top 30, one is a new game, and the other 2 are games that are bundled with some PS5s. If those 2 games weren't bundled they wouldn't be on the chart at all.

Then why are they buying the ps5? If those games weren't bundled I'm pretty sure other ps5 games would be on the chart

No. Just two more Switch games would be on the chart.
