They found private investors who were willing to buy them off of Microsoft. Xbox also helped by paying to publish Toys for Bob's 1st game as an independent studio.

Rough news to be sure. I think ninja theory deserves another shot. Let senua release and see what happens.
They really took way too long to release hellblade 2. 8 years and apart from the visual quality, seemed to be a side step or even a backwards step in some regards and sold poorly as a result. All the while project Mara was in development, using resources for a very long time with no result.
I don't think they should shut them down yet but we'll... I can see why.
Turn 10 talk is a massive surprise... I thought Forza motorsport did very well.

A shame about Ninja Theory. Unfortunately they leaned too much into the cinematics and presentation and not enough into gameplay with Hellblade 2. The premise of the original Senua was to produce something that feels AAA but has a AA budget, it feels almost like MS getting behind them messed that balance up and they over indulged.
Senua seems to be leaning back into the gameplay but I didn't get excited from watching the trailer, it still feels quite narrow and uninviting. With the game due out next year though, I feel like they have a good shot of getting investor support. Maybe add a Switch 2 version to further that likeliness
Per a new blog post over on Xbox Wire, the Xbox team have shared all the details on what’s coming to Xbox Game Pass this month, across Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential subscriptions.

Abyssus is a very fun co-op roguelike shooter. Similar to Deadzone Rogue if anyway has played that.
I saw some preview videos about Halo CE along with the achievements. It looks like you can kill Captain Keyes again based on an achievement lol awesome to see!
But it looks like they nailed the physics. The biggest concern with the engine switch was if the game would still “feel” like Halo. Glad to see they were able to get that right.

yep.... it is just trashed, maybe Xbox keeps a copy of it laying around on a hhd (of the work done), nothing ever comes of it.
Studio closes, and everyone is fired. MS/xbox keeps the IPs.

Could very well have been a public ad to potential buyers. This would explain why Matthew Ball said "no comment" when asked why Senua was getting a PS5 release. |
That explains the "no comment"! holy hell... it was already in the plans back then.
Ball came out to put down rumors started by SneakersSO that they were already looking to reverse course on console exclusives.
I hope they understand that this isn't going to stop anytime soon. It's going to take years of consistency for the public to actually believe anything XBOX says. With how jarring previous leadership was, saying one thing, then doing another for years, has led to a playerbase that justifiably doesn't believe them. Any leak/rumor that starts is believable.

The plan is the plan until it isn’t the plan.
