Not confirmed by Xbox itself as of yet. Jason Schreier is reporting that Compulsion employees were told this past Friday that the studio would be shuttered.

Schreier is one of the few that when he reports it, it's as good as done. I'm personally expecting Xbox to make the announcement later today. Unless they're still deciding on who else to close and make the announcement then collectively.

Yeah is Schreier is reporting that, then its done.
He is not the type that makes sh*t up.

I just saw this on the Kotaku article. If they were informed on Friday, then this could be the studio's last-ditch effort to hopefully go indie.

Well at the end of the day I personally bought South of Midnight so I did my part. Actually a pretty great game. But at the end of the day they’ve released 3 games in 17yrs and SoM sold terrible.

Remember when a bunch of fools wanted Microsoft to buy SEGA a couple years ago and I was opposed to it. Imagine all the layoffs and shit that would be happening. People who celebrated all those acquisitions. Feel dumb yet?

Compulsion is not a big loss. South of Midnight was their best game but still lacking. I was always critical of the acquisition.

BREAKING: Several Xbox studios, including Compulsion, Ninja Theory and Double Fine, are negotiating with Xbox as they try to avoid closure. Some or all could spin off.

Lots still in flux as many studios remain unsure about what's happening.
